Sixty Years a Nurse
Sixty Years a Nurse
Price: £4.75

3.0 out of 5 stars quite a good read, 4 Jan. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I read the book but was left a little disappointed. The story placed to much emphasis on her training rather than when
she was qualified.
I would have liked to hear more about the years she spent working as a nurse after training and managing her home life and the birth of her
children as well as coping with her patients.
Mary had a lot to put up with in life and I wish her well in her retirement.
.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent book., 6 April 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
What a heartbreaking insight into the doctors and nurses working life in a hospice.
Some quite funny stories that made me smile whilst others had me in tears.
The story was told so well and I would love Dr Trevelyan to write more.
I found it hard to put my kindle down, I loved the stories.
I'm really pleased Dr T didn't go for the other position, he is made for that role caring for
People at their most vunerable.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very moving read, 28 Feb. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I was really excited when I heard this book was being published, looked forward to it and pre ordered it.
I couldn't believe what Jan went through to actually get pregnant, she must have been devastated each time the treatment failed.
I loved the book but I would dearly love to have heard a lot more about the girls lives
If I remember rightly, reading it on my kindle, it was 40% into the book before the baby's were born.
Also, I remember the night the girls were born, I heard it on the news and was astounded to hear there were six girls who
All survived.
Jan and Graham are obviously devoted to their daughters and must be so excited with the arrival
Of their little garandaughter who will bring them so much joy.
They are a lovely family. Best wishes to them all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved reading Lynda's other book and like all her fans, 8 Feb. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Loved reading Lynda's other book and like all her fans, was shocked by her terminal diagnosis.
Her honesty came through as well as her bravery in this current book. Felt very sad she didn't get her last Christmas.
She will be missed.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected when I purchased the book. ..., 8 Feb. 2015

Not what I expected when I purchased the book. Very few cases explained it was mostly about the religious side of the sisters lives.
Quite interesting but if I had known this, I might not have bought it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very sad story., 16 Aug. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Heartbreaking how evil acts like what happened to these young girls and their brother can have such a devastating effect on the rest of their lives.
What they endured was so dreadful. I'm Really shocked no one around Debbie, her mother, teachers etc never twigged something wasn't right the way she was behaving. All the signals were there but sadly, nothing was picked up.
Debbie was very brave to safeguard her sister by allowing herself to be abused rather than her.
It was sad what happened to their brother too, his life cut short because of the abuse he started drinking to blot it out.
I thought the book was well written and not too much detail about the abuse was written which can be quite traumatic to read.
I'm delighted their monster abuser got the sentence he deserved.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good read quite exciting at times., 26 Jun. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This book was very enjoyable, it got quite exciting at times, it was hard to put down.
Very fast paced but easy to keep up with.
I usually take a while to read a book but did this in a short time. Much preferred reading this
To watching some tv.
In my opinion, the last two to three chapters let the book down. I felt those chapters were too far fetched and it spoilt the end for me.
I still would recommend though.

Beyond The Call Of Duty: Untold Stories of Britain's Bravest Police Officers
Price: £4.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Beyond duty by far, 12 Jun. 2014

What an excellent book and what brave police we have in our country.
You never get to hear of their bravery, only the few who do not meet standards
And give the police a bad name. These crimes should be more widely reported.
I read a lot of the stories in total disbelief at the horrific injuries some of these brave
Police received. Most of the time, the culprits didn't get the sentence to meet the crime.
It's an eye opening book, it was for me. I would like to read more so another book please.
Thanks to all those brave police who did go one step beyond.

5.0 out of 5 stars Difficult reading, 20 April 2014

This review is from: Stolen Voices (Kindle Edition)
Although this book made very difficult reading, I just couldn't put it down.
How those children managed to come out of the other side of this dreadful abuse is astounding.
I can't believe they we're let down so many times by those who knew something was not right
But never followed it through.
How another human can do those depraved things to children just disgusts me.
Terrie and Paul, feel very proud of yourselves. You never let that monster win in the end did you?
You showed you were both better than him.
Very best wishes for the future, you both deserve so much happiness.
