The first networking book with real insight .., 16 July 2011
What can I say that hasn't already been said? I will break with the general trend here and start with a small quibble - why wasn't this book around 6 years ago? I started my own business in 2005 and for the first time had to start networking, a totally alien expereince for someone who had spend over 30 years in a number of large blue chip companies where the need to network was virtually non existent. I had to learn the hard way and am still learning.
This book provides a framework for networking that comprehensively covers every imaginable event or situation in both the online and offline worlds of networking. It provides a step by step guide for each scenario, but is not simply instructional. It is full of useful tips, summarised action points, case studies and references to other resources including books, websites and blogs.
Most importantly this a practical guide to creating business success through networking. If you run your own business and want a better grasp of networking, Busines Networking needs to be on the top of your reading list, way ahead of all of the worthy tomes that deal only with concept and theory.
You can't fail to learn something from this book regardless of how long you may have been a networker, I certainly have and see it as a reference guide that will remain on my desk rather than on a bookshelf.
An excellent job Heather.
