5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best Ska punk albums out there., 26 Jan 2011
This review is from: Prime Time (Audio CD)
Regatta 69 A underated Canadian ska punk band really come out swinging in this album. There energy is just fantastic. Songs such as "I wanna smack you", "killer Cabbie" and "follow the leader" are a few examples, of what a happy go lucky album this is. My personal favourite on the album though is "She was looking at me", it is just so soulful. There is even a pretty decent cover version of "you light up my life" and a decent hidden track, rather cleverly hidden on track 69.

If you like The Planet Smasher, Mad Caddies or any of the other great Ska Punk bands out there you will love it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic slice of rock, 6 Jan 2011
This review is from: Lustre (Audio CD)
Lustre are a band that should of gone on to do great things. They supported Oasis for a while and recorded this self titled album. Its mainly a laid back rock affiar, with catchy lyrics. It's hard to go into depth as I really dont know much more on them. It is a good album though, if you like alt rock music chances are you will like this.

3.0 out of 5 stars Just some harmless Punk fun., 5 Jan 2011
Oska Popstar and the legends of punk will not win any awards, but that being said it is a highly enjoyable album. It is all rather tounge in cheek, most of the songs hardly make it to the 3 minute mark and have rahter far fetched and strange lyrics. It is still a decent album, I did find that it got quite old rather quick but I have just started listening to it and it has gorwn on me again. An overall decent album, if you can take it for what it is.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good Ska punk., 5 Jan 2011
This review is from: Attack of.. (Audio CD)
Canadian Ska punkers the Planet Smashers have made abit of a reputaion for themselves as one of the best ska bands of the 21st century. Attack of... Is thier second realease and is a big improvement on thier self titled debut album. Some of the songs on the album are of the highest skanking quality. "change" is by far one of the bands finest songs and one of the best Ska songs I have heard for a long time. "take it from the top" is another great ska song. This is a great summertime album. Just put it on and enjoy the ryhthms. Hell why not get up and dance as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great post Hardcore album., 5 Jan 2011
This review is from: Harmony No Harmony (Audio CD)
What a great album this is. Million dead will now forever be known as that band frank turner was in, but they are in the own right just as awesome as the leading mans solo stuff. In fact I often forget it's the same person, the voice is the same but the style of music seems to be a million miles away. Anyway back to the album it's self. Harmony no harmony is a breathe of fresh air compared to alot of so called "rock" and "heavey" music to come out of the UK. Every track has something to say. The Lyrics are great the music is fantastic and Frank sounds fantastic. Alot like Reuben these guys where the unsung hereos of the UK Rock scene.

4.0 out of 5 stars Yet another overlooked 90's rock album, 5 Jan 2011
This review is from: Dead Sailor Acid Blues (Audio CD)
The tracks are as follow.

1. Slahday & Camus
2. Bigger Chunk
3. They All Write Her Songs
4. Day Before I Died
5. Sea of Glass
6. Shiny Like Gold
7. Sweet Lemon Maureen
8. Pontchartrain
9. Lucky Jad
10. Daddy Raw
11. Surf Continental
12. Surf Epilogue
13. A.M.

Dead sailor acid blues is a very good rock album from a completly unknown band. This album always manages to raise a smile, and has some very good songs on there, which will make you scratch you head and wonder why they are so unknown. If you manage to stumble onto this page I would strongly advise you purchase this album. Although I can see why you wouldnt, no Album artwork picture or tracklisting, I hope that at least this review will encourage a few people to take a chance on it. I really Dont know who to compare them to, I guess other post Grunge bands around at the same time. Meh I don't know they seem to have a sound of thier own. I think you can find out more info on the album on the US amazon site, so why not look on there first.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Pop-Punk album for the masses., 5 Jan 2011
This review is from: Riot! (Audio CD)
Paramore really came of age with thier second album "Riot!" Keeping true to the sound found on there debut Paramore sound like they have grown in confidence. This album seems to be popular among alot of musical circles as well that can only be a good thing. Seems that Paramore are one of those rare bands that it is acceptbale for everyone to like, wether you listen to rock, metal or pop.

A great Pop rock album, probably the best Paramore ablum out there. A sound that they took forward and perfected on "brand new eyes".

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Iconic Rush album., 5 Jan 2011
This review is from: Moving Pictures (Audio CD)
1981's moving pictures is yet another master class by Rush. Taking the sound foward from Permanent waves "moving Pictures" spawned probably some of Rush's bust known work. We are treated to the radio greats "limelight" and "tom Sawyer". Limelight being in my opinion the best Rush song ever. "Red Barchetta" is another masterpiece, as is every song on the album.

Moving Pictures was the second album to be featured in the 1001 albums to listen to before you die, along with 2112. I think they are probably the best Rush albums money can buy. I personaly would opt for Moving pictures over 2112, but I do love my 80's rush. This is a great first album for any newbie looking to explole the world of rush, and a must have for any music collection. Another great album.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of those must own CD's, 5 Jan 2011
This review is from: 2112 (Audio CD)
There is no doubt about it, this is without a doubt one of the best Rock albums ever. Rush's 1976 effort 2112 was sci-fi prog rock and a masterpiece which really is timeless. The opening "2112" a 20 minute epic split into seven parts is a fantastic display of the talents of the band. Peart of course played a big part in the direction that Rush where now taking, and 2112 was probably on of his finest achievments.

After the epic opening we then settle into a more hard rock based set."A Passage to Bangkok" is a cracking song as is "the Twilgight song". The closing two songs are also of the highest quality. Ask most Rush fans and this would probably be up thier among Rush's greatest. It still sounds as fresh as ever. Great album, Great band, and probably we will never hear another album as groundbreaking as this.

This is a very important album for me, probaly the one album that I can say comes with alot of memories and all good ones. It is just a really great happy little album. It's a bit more poppier than what I normally listen to but you can still hear a few punk influences in there.

Of course the stand out track and big it is "here (in your arms)" which is a great electro track. The other two stand out tracks are "oh, it is love" and "baby, It's a fact", two great mushy love songs.

It may not be the best album ever recorded but it is a great listen and really quite uplifting. It will have you singing and dancing in no time.
