Sage 50 Accounts 2012 In Easy Steps
Sage 50 Accounts 2012 In Easy Steps
by Gillian Gilert
Edition: Paperback
Price: 8.99

2.0 out of 5 stars just skims the surface really, 8 May 2014
l bought this book to help me when I was being thrown in the deep end at a new job where I had to use sage. When it arrived I was very surprised that its quite a thin manual and wondered how it could cover everything. Whilst it does have headers for the main topics, the information given in the book is very basic, and assumes a lot of prior knowledge. I am knowledgeable about accounts and manual book keeping, but this book is definitely not enough to make someone competent from a scratch start.
Wasted my money really as I now have to try and find another book that's a lot more indepth.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Christening Present for non-believers, 7 Feb 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I got this book for a christening present when the non-churchgoing parents said they'd prefer money...
The stories in it are lovely and i am sure the child will read it himself when he is older.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant brilliant brilliant, 7 Feb 2013

I love this book. Its one of those where you keep shaking your head and saying 'the truth really IS stranger than fiction',.because if this was a fiction no one would read it for being too long, full of unbleivable characters doing things that were just so ridiculous no one would beleive it!

Right from the start, at the end of each chapter I turned the page thinking 'they must get found out now' but no! There is yet another big scam by these arrogant, irresponsible people An idiot who can add 1+1would have seen that this company was built on nothing but Enrons kept going and going.

In fact I'm going to read it again. Its totally gripping. Who needs fiction with this kind of book about.

All the President's Men (Bloomsbury Film Classics)

4.0 out of 5 stars Very hard going, 7 Feb 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I had meant to read this for literally 20 years and when I finally got it, I found it really really hard going.
It assumes the reader knows all about the American Political system, and i kept having to stop and google things like whether Nixon was a democrat or republican. Quite hard going but worth it in the end.

I read this book after watching the film and found the book contained a depth of information not even scratched by the film. It was truly an eye opener for me to realise that getting justice in America depends not on truth and freedom, but on money and colour.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good insight into the American legal system, 7 Feb 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This book is a frustrating read in an emotional sense as it details how the American justice system literally closes doors behind you that can't be reopened even if new evidence is found, and that the difference between a good and bad attourney can mean the difference between life and death.

Whilst I understand Sister Helen becoming very involved in these cases, the book might have been better had she taken a more objective approach to their innocence or guilt.

I Know My First Name is Steven
I Know My First Name is Steven
by Mike Echols
Edition: Mass Market Paperback

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, 7 Feb 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I would have enjoyed this book a lot more without the very graphic descriptions of exaclty what the abuse was that the boy suffered. Bit sensationalist. But the rest was very interesting about how someone can take a child around with them all the time and never once be questioned about parentage etc. Makes you wonder how many more children there are out there in the same situation.

2.0 out of 5 stars Nearly as boring as being in that cave all winter., 7 Feb 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I found this book to be far too full of far too much irrelevant detail.
Then when they finally get into the part of the book that the title is about, its very very boring with minutae of details.
It could have been summed up in just a couple of chapters.

This review is from: Marie Antoinette (Kindle Edition)
This is a good account of the life of a daft princess who comes to be queen of a large country far too young and immature. Very interesting way to learn one side of the French Revolution.
