5.0 out of 5 stars also available on cd, 31 Aug 2010
we had this as kids on a 33" vinyl.the book is great but the cd is even better as its read out by spike who does all the silly voices...binklebonk, silly sausage, mudwiggle and the rest. even now when i play it (not just to the kids! i've even played it for friends after the pub!) with the music i still get misty eyed and have to excuse myself! I'm 37! buy the book by all means but you'll enjoy it more if you get the cd aswell cos when you read it to the kids you can copy all spikes voices!

The Crystal Submarine [Explicit]
The Crystal Submarine [Explicit]

5.0 out of 5 stars BRILLIANT!, 29 Jan 2010
I first heard oompah played on Marc Riley's 6Music show about a year ago and made me ears prick up like an greyhound's!I've had to wait for ages before they brought the full album out and when they did I was like a kid at Xmas! Its silly, psychedelic and just great fun.I wouldn't call it 'comedy' music but it will make you laugh so JUST BUY IT!...p.s. if any of the band read this then will you please get your backsides up to West Yorkshire and do us some gigs, cheers

Race to Dakar
Race to Dakar
by Charley Boorman
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars this made a grown man cry!, 29 Jan 2010
This review is from: Race to Dakar (Paperback)
I've read a few of the other reviews and didn't quite agree with them all so here's mine. Some folks have a problem with his excessive use of the F word but in his defence if you've ever been on a bike trip with your mates then its easy to fall into the 'baser' way of talking, so for that he is forgiven.Another said that it was all about Charley and his team and not much about the top riders. If you want footage of the top riders (Cyril Desprit,Marc Coma etc)then follow the race on Eurosport (10pm in UK in January!).You will find that tons of people e-mail that show asking for more privateers!Race to Dakar is the ONLY documentary which was more about that side of it.As the race gets toward the end not only are you gunning for charley's team but you get to see guys like Nick Plumb and also Patsy Quick who was the 1st English women to finish the race.By the end, I was a wreck...tears streaming down my 36 y/o face! This is a brilliant DVD and you'd be daft not to buy it.

The Fragile Army
The Fragile Army

5.0 out of 5 stars BRILLIANT...BUY IT NOW!, 20 Feb 2008
This review is from: The Fragile Army (Audio CD)
I've been a fan of this band since their begining and this new album definitley didn't dissapoint. If you get this version with the DVD you will see just how much work went into the production (they even sampled a tap dancer and typewriter!) It's just so hard to put into words just how good this album is because its more of a 'feeling' you get from listening rather than just good tunes...check out track 7. I got goosepimples! However there is one teeny tiny thing and that is the cover version of Nirvana's Lithium which is like pulling teeth. It is awful but then thats just my opinion because i generally don't like covers but you might. Thats why it still gets 5 stars. Can't wait to see 'em on tour!

5.0 out of 5 stars BRILLIANT!, 11 Jan 2006
Apart from the package which could be improved (the 3 DVD's are stacked on top of each other which if not handled carefully could increase the chance of scratching the 'shiny' surface) this is an amazing story of human endeavour and friendship and makes you want to go out,buy a bike and...zoom! see you all later! The best thing about this series on DVD is that you don't have to wait a week for the next episode only to be interupted by adverts.BUY IT!! You won't regret it

5.0 out of 5 stars BRILLIANT...BUY IT!, 27 April 2005
I've read a lot of books about the apollo missions usually in astronauts biographys and memoirs. They are all good but its the same story told by different people with their own version on
things...This mission, that mission,etc...This book ,however tells you a bit more about the men themselves and what they are like today not just their achievements. Before I read this I almost felt that I knew the astronauts. How wrong I was.In this book it explains Armstrong's and the other's reluctance to talk to the press over the years and the CMP's also get a look-in which is good.If it wasn't for those guys, the moonwalkers wouldn't have got home! It's written in such a fun way to read I couldn't put it down.JUST BUY IT!!!.Put it this way, my boss couldn't wait for me to finish it so he could finally get me to do some work and stop taking half hour breaks when I'm only allowed 10 mins!!
