Bowie 2001: A Space Oddity
Bowie 2001: A Space Oddity
Price: 27.49

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid he's done it, 6 July 2014
This might just have been so wrong but it might turn out to be the best interpretation of Bowie's work (Oh apart from Dylan Howe's Subterranean). If you know and love the original's this CD will bring a smile to your face - 'Changes' or 'Changed' as it appears here is a truly inspiring re-mix.

And on Piano... Nicky Hopkins: The Extraordinary Life of Rock's Greatest Session Man

5.0 out of 5 stars Extraordinary Life..., 16 April 2012

Nicky's name must appear on countless albums in my collection adding as the Stones used to say (about him) diamond tiaras to each track. This is excellent, so well researched/written and as Julian Dawson quite rightly sub-titles the book "An extraordinary life...." and indeed it was. An outstanding bio.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ultimate Bowie Book - Kevin Cann you are a genius!, 19 Dec 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This book is quite astonishing - a chronology of Bowie's life 47 - 74 with stacks of unseen pictures - almost each day has a commentary. Kevin Cann you are a star pulling this together, the research and presentation just floored me. This and Nicholas Pegg's book (The Complete David Bowie) are all you need. So Kevin 1975 to 1983 next?

5.0 out of 5 stars Charlie's good tonight, 2 Dec 2009
Sound quality is awesome espically the bonus material with an amazing version of Under My Thumb/I'm free - as usual we want more from the recorded two nights!
The BB King and Ike & Tina Turner disc offers a standard BB King set with great sound quality but what a true delight is the Ike and Tina set - just wonderful.
The DVD at around 30 minutes is an interesting if dispensible addition (you have to feel sorry for Jack the donkey stuck out on newly finished M5 in the cold and wet) but the whole box is nicely packaged, first rate sound quality, the stones billed as the greatest rock n' roll band in the world delivering a fine performance. And for once well done ABKCO!

5.0 out of 5 stars Mono Box blows Stereo Box away, 12 Sep 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Beatles In Mono (Audio CD)
Certainly Well worth the extra 's for the mono box. The stereo box is great (got that first) but I was just blown away by the mono box - a thing of beauty - the packaging is just so much better. And the sound is amazing Sgt. Pepper in mono is just awesome.

I would recommend buying both boxes but if you had to pick one go for the mono and and buy Abbey Road and Let It Be (and Yellow Submarine),in stereo, separately.

3.0 out of 5 stars What am i missing - it's not that bad, 7 Sep 2009
This review is from: Ginger Bakers Airforce (Audio CD)
I bought this CD and then read the reviews before playing. I've got a decent hi-fi Musical Fidelity CD player and the wonderful Musical Fidelity A1000 pre-power amp with Heybrook sextet speakers. Still with me?
You know, through the aforementioned system, this CD doesn't sound too bad - just what you'd expect from the cavenous Royal Albert Hall with a cast of thousands on stage and 70's recording standards.
OK it's not a great recording but I'm very dubious about the claims that the source is from a vinyl record. I've seen similar claims about Lemon CD's (John Miles and Vinegar Joe) and been put off but I didn't hear any rumble, or notice any snap, crackle and pop on this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bowie and Iggy in Berlin, 5 April 2008
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Criticism is that this book adds nothing to published facts on the period which isn't true. Thomas Jerome (come on is that really his name!)has certainly done his research on Bowie (and Iggy) and further substantiates the important role that Visconti played during this period. A very enjoyable read.
