2.0 out of 5 stars American views, 1 Jan. 2012
While the photographs are interesting, the sub-title "Photography from Allied Fighters and Bombers over Occupied Europe" is misleading because this is an entirely American viewpoint. In fact, from the text, you will get the impression that the 8th Air Force did all the fighting and the only British involvement was to be grateful!

This quote sums it up: "Nothing surprised the Luftwaffe more than to discover that American fighter pilots could actually shoot them down in a dogfight. After all, the Germans were battle-hardened and had victories over both the British and the Soviets".

5.0 out of 5 stars Ticks all my boxes and I'm really pleased, 8 May 2008
I can't comment on the iPod issue because I just wanted a good micro system that would play CDs and receive DAB radio, had reasonable wattage output and a fair degree of control over balance and tone. I have not been disappointed and am happy that I made the right choice.

Unlike some other systems, there is no discernible hum when in standby mode and CDs play very quietly with no breaks between tracks, (not that I've noticed anyway). The DAB connection is straightforward coaxial, so can easily be connected to a suitable TV aerial for good reception. Build quality is excellent and everything is reassuringly solid.

Oh, the blue-green lights are pretty cool too!

2.0 out of 5 stars Film score music: entertaining, but rather predictable., 30 Mar. 2008
This review is from: Music Of The Spheres (Audio CD)
Bought after hearing a snippet on, yes, Classic FM. Previous reviewers who have said that this is film score music are spot on. If you shut your eyes during the final piece, Musica Universalis, you don't see spheres, you see the credits rolling. If you like Bach, Beethoven, Grieg and Rodrigo you won't find it particularly moving. If you like Ennio Morricone and Jean-Michel Jarre you won't find it particularly innovative. Entertaining, but rather predictable. On the basis of this I'll not be planning to start a Mike Oldfield collection.
