4.0 out of 5 stars Several Cold shower's recommended lol, 13 Dec 2012
If fit, muscled, toned lithe men are your secret passions and desires, then look no further. This book has it all. Toned, hard men fight to perfect their bodies into perfect examples of male masculinity. However, once behind closed doors their passions are fueled by their animal hunger to discover and fulfill their wildest desires with each other once they hit the lockers room.

Their sweaty, gym-hardened bodies do battle in the arena for our entertainment and admiration. For these men are more than perfect they are true gladiators fighting to be the best at their chosen sport, putting their muscles on the line for the cheers of the crowd. And once the battle's done, they strip down and get down to the serious business of giving and receiving the ultimate pleasure and satisfaction needed to fulfill their unbridled passions that lurks untamed within each of them.

For these men are certainly more than merely well defined bodies, they are modern day gods. Gods who deserve to be admired, lusted after, touched, and loved and eventually worshiped.

Here are their stories--stories of desire, lust, passion, and raw, animalistic passion that will blow your mind and stimulate your libido. You will never look at an athlete the same way again.

Lovers, Dreamers, and Me
Lovers, Dreamers, and Me
by Willa Okati
Edition: Paperback
Price: 7.35

4.0 out of 5 stars Hot sexy sincere yet heartbreaking, 23 Nov 2011
Lovers, Dreamers, and Me is a true Willa Okati romance - it's full of erotic encounters, angst, emotion and romance. Tolliver is as endearing as he is maddening with his narrow focus, refusal to meet life head on and deal with the changing reality of his life.

Noble is mysterious, and rather irritating, with his constant assurances of seeing the desired outcome, however, when his secrets are revealed and Noble turns out to be as vulnerable as the next man - it really brings him to life in a spectacular way.

I was swept away with the emotional wallop that Willa Okati packed into this story and by the men whom are lovable in their vulnerability and, in Tolliver's case, his reluctant willingness to explore the mysteries of sex and love! It was heart wrenching to watch as Tolliver struggles to come to terms with how his new feelings for Noble fit into his life and his painful acceptance of the changes that will bring into his life.

Noble is not so clear in his struggle, but in the end his heartbreak is just as painful as he deals with Tolliver and his uncertainties. Get yourself Lovers, Dreamers, and Me the next time you are in the mood for an emotional romance that will grab your heart and not let it go!

4.0 out of 5 stars Super Hero Adventure, 12 Aug 2011
The adventure begins when Kern, a misfit adolescent who escapes into a world of comic book heroes. Whereupon he is challenged to become a hero himself. The 14-year-old is one of the last believers in truth and justice in the demolished inner city of Los Angeles.

Kern and his best friend, Mouse, are avid comic books readers whose favorite fictional hero is "Veritas, Prince of Truth". Unfortunately, the lack of readership is causing the demise of the comic book. Cancellation of the magazine however cannot go unchallenged by Veritas who decides to prevent his main adversary, Nemisii, from destroying his comic book world by "entering" the real world.

He selects Kern to guide and assist him on his quest. Mouse and Kern find ways to help Veritas adjust to the real world in his search for the "Biocode" needed to rescue his planet. Marty, Kern's mother, soon discovers the plot and is reluctant to believe the outrageous story. Veritas, however, convinces her of his honesty and plight and the four of them set out on a quest to save Veritas' world, and find truth for themselves along the way.

5.0 out of 5 stars INTERESTING AND EXTREMLY MOVING., 10 Aug 2011
This is an interesting and yet a very intriguing drama about a gay lad in a redneck high school. The lad in this case is unusually appealing. Partly because he had a simple plain look about him, yet his macho strength shines in abundance, but he is portrayed in such a clever manner and seems so perfectly NORMAL.

Possessing a gentle, yet mild manner, there is nothing about him that would identify him as being gay. So when he decides to come out, his actions comes across as being somewhat bold and yet brave. Mainly because he is not the sort of lad everybody would readily identify as being gay. That is how he comes across in the movie, anyway: just a normal teenage lad whose main interests seems to be sports and hot rods, and certainly not fashion and Madonna.

Although there is nothing LIFE CHANGING in his story: Gay lad gets abused at school; teachers / school board refuse to acknowledge, or even attempt to address the issue. Yet, although his family are loving and supportive, they lack the confidence or resources to fight the system alone - until the ACLU gets involved.... etc etc etc.....

What is extraordinary in this movie however, is the actions and beliefs of a local pastor named Mark Micklos. He is one of the people who wrote to the hometown paper objecting to the Joe Wilson/Dean Hamer wedding announcement that was the catalyst for the whole movie.

Wilson begins by interviewing him and his wife, and as he is with most of his interviewes, Wilson starts out pretty defensive. But although they disagree about gay marriage, Micklos refuses to spar with Wilson about the issue. Instead, he insists on keeping a dialog open and on trying to show Wilson the love of Jesus instead of arguing with or attacking him.

What is amazing and deeply gratifying is that it works. Almost against his will, Wilson begins to trust him. They never agree, but they become real friends. By the end of the movie, the greatest change is in Joe Wilson himself. He is less defensive and more tolerant of those who are intolerant of him. If all Christians were like Mark Micklos, the world would be a much better place.

4.0 out of 5 stars INTERESTING, YET THOUGHT PROVOKING... 3 SHORT FILMS, 10 Aug 2011
"Black Sheep Boy" is the first of three short films by Michael Wallin on this Water Bearer Films DVD. All three films present images with voice overs. (No additional extras on the disc).

"Black Sheep Boy" (37 minutes, colour) presents a number of attractive young men briefly (some more than once) in various states of dress both outdoors and indoors and also presents scenes of two or three modern dancers acting out relationship issues. The voiceover moves generally from observations on boys toward a director's perspective of wanting to limit the behavior of actors and models to keep them mysterious and undemanding. There are lots of jump cuts, nudity, posturings, bare feet, and interesting observations. This was the most visually engaging of the three films; one has to have the discipline to pay attention to the sound track, which is where the real story is told. Low 4 Stars.

The 2nd film, "Decodings" (15 Mins Black & White) Assembles a compilation of historical footage (1940s and 1950s) along with a voiceover that encourages one to consider how to be an individual in a mass society.

The 3rd film, "Place between Our Bodies" (33 Mins Colour), shows the emergence of a man from an Urban porn-centered Milieu to idyllic scenes with them man in a positive relationship with a nice guy. There is some nudity and some hand-held shots of vintage pornography.

Gary Keller is enjoying a cruise with new friends when he meets Scott Haworth, and unexpected attraction flares between them. But Scott has a past he's trying to leave behind; nine months earlier he was released from prison after almost a decade. The Innocence Project and DNA evidence exonerated of the crime, but the victim's brother still holds him responsible.

Gary finds himself drawn to Scott for many reasons, not least of which is that the big, physically strong exterior hides a vulnerable, unsure man trying to restart his life. But it's only a seven-day cruise, and when it ends, they both have to go back to their lives in different parts of the country. Is a week long enough to build a relationship that will stand the strain of separation? Or will the cruise just fade to a happy vacation memory

5.0 out of 5 stars Riveting teenage escapism., 8 Aug 2011
This review is from: Hidden (Paperback)
This debut novel tells the story of Ahmed, a gay 15 year old boy who is sent by his parents to a residential facility that supposedly will turn him straight. After eleven months of abuse at the hands of the facility's staff, Ahmed fakes a severe toothache to get his parents to pick him up for medical care, and then escapes from them at the first rest stop. It is there that he meets up with an underground network of facilitators who transport him to nearby San Francisco, where he hides out in an apartment filled with other teens in similar situations. Forced to stay out of sight, to dye his hair and adopt a new name (Ben), he quickly forms a common bond with the other male and female inhabitants of this overcrowded "safehouse," learning as much about them as they are cautiously willing to share. He makes friends, potential enemies, develops crushes, and ultimately learns to trust some people and be wary of others. All the time, they know that the apartment door might be broken down any minute, and they could end up being sent back to the facility. It's a thought that gives many of them a fatalistic approach to life, making it even more dangerous for everyone there.

Author Mournian has a background as a journalist, and based this story on the real-life similar safehouses and rescue network that he uncovered in a feature he wrote for the San Francisco Bay Guardian. It is a well-written, emotionally raw chronicle of what some misguided parents put their kids through, thinking it will bring them closer together, when the exact opposite is the only possible result. This is a highly recommended, powerful book with a compelling message about acceptance and love for all. Five stars out of five.

4.0 out of 5 stars INTERESTING TRIANGLE OF LOVE INTERESTS, 3 Aug 2011
Marty is a high school senior who is gay ... on weekdays. However at the weekend he has a girlfriend !!
Life gets even more complicated when the girlfriend meets the boyfriend, then however implausible it may seem they decide to become one combined, happy "triple."

Nevertheless, Marty is also concerned about his friend Jake, whose claim to fame seems to be as a peeping Tom. A skill which reportedly he has used to influence friends and make some spare cash. Then there's Thomas, whom Marty helps to hide after Thomas' boyfriend Eddie is shot, possibly by Thomas' homophobic brother, a theory with which Marty disagrees.

This is essentially a parody of an old film noir mystery - complete with "red herring" tangents - crossed with a "gay boys go wild" sex comedy. The screenwriter seamlessly uses black and white as well as color photography, dramatic music, and multiple showings of scenes from different perspectives. It gets rather confusing, though the inexperienced actors make a shaky script and meandering dialogue seem better with their efforts, for the most part. Coming in at just 66 minutes, counting the numerous repeats of scenes, there simply isn't much here, if you look at the film as a whole. DVD has only chapter stops; not rated, but would be an R for lots of male and female nudity. I'll give it just three stars out of five.

The Arrival of Fergal Flynn
The Arrival of Fergal Flynn
by Brian Kennedy
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars Totally Awesome, 27 July 2011
Just finished this book, by which time it felt as though I was about to lose a best friend. Mr Kennedy can certainly tell an amazing story and I found this one totally amazing. I think that the poor Fergal needed a huge hug because his family were so dysfunctional and his life had been one of such abuse and misery, he was obviously was so totally unhappy and lacking in self esteem. Until of course he met Father Mac who not only nurtured him as an individual and actually gave him the confidence to explore and discover his "own true voice" but also showed him a love and tenderness he could never of imagined. Readers might like to know this only part one (woop woop) Roman song continues Fergal Flynn's arrival in Rome.
