4.0 out of 5 stars Andiamo, 22 Jun 2010
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
I really enjoyed this game. The graphics and setting are excellent, with fantastically realised towns and cities alive with people and atmosphere. Good mixture of missions, varied gameplay, a good story and likeable/enjoyable character to play.

I like the idea of the factions battling across time but personally find the modern day aspects reminding you are not actually Ezio break the mood.

Some of the later puzzles are really very cryptic, had to resort to the internet for help

Some have mentioned the combat is too easy. I think I get what the developers wanted to convey, that you are stronger, faster and more skilful than your opponents, and that the fun is in revelling in this, orchestrating the fights. However, I do think they went too far, it is virtually impossible to be defeated. When you can take on a dozen men and be surrounded with no thought of losing, it makes the blending/hiding aspects of the game almost redundant.

Nevertheless, glad i bought it and thoroughly enjoyed it.

The Sword in the Age of Chivalry
The Sword in the Age of Chivalry
by Ewart Oakeshott
Edition: Paperback
Price: £19.86

4.0 out of 5 stars Mixed Feelings, 27 Jan 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Indispensable as a guide to type and describe medieval swords, and contains a huge range of illustrations and pictures illustrating the types in medieval art and surviving examples.

However, I find Oakeshott sheds little light on the design and use of his types, "why" they were created that way. Perhaps that would have involved too much speculation.

Medieval Combat: A Fifteenth-century Illustrated Manual of Swordfighting and Close-quarter Combat

4.0 out of 5 stars Facinating, 27 Jan 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Fascinating drawings. Demonstrates the ferocity of combat with medieval weapons, but difficult to glean much of the technique. I gather this was the idea, Talhoffer did not want people to be able to become proficient in his methods from just the manual, he wanted paying students! Some odd weapons and subjects, the illustrated judicial duel between a man and a woman illustrates a time and way of thinking it is difficult to comprehend

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Good Frame, 27 Dec 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
We bought this frame for my parents for Christmas, but of course had to load on some pictures and "test" it before wrapping it up.

The picture quality seems excellent, with vibrant colours. 4:3 ratio means most shots fit perfectly. Good connectivity including plug and play with a memory stick. Plently of options including albums so you can display different sets of photos depending on your mood. Timer/Alarm etc. Great frame for the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but shop around, 7 Dec 2009
I have one of these. This is a good torch, no doubt, but there are better alternatives at this price point.

The Good
Flood to spot focus works very well
Throws well for its relatively modest output.
Uses AAA bateries, easily available
Well made and comes with quality belt pouch

Not So Good
Finish is type II anodised, not the much tougher type III
Not fully waterproof
The optics are plastic (I think), not toughened glass
Not regulated. A regulated torch puts out a constant level of light, an unregulated one gets dimmer from the first moment you use it
Not as many modes (levels of light) as some alternatives
Quite big for its power.

No doubt this is an excellent torch, and those who are used to normal torches or maglites are in for a shock when you see how bright this is, but there are other alternatives at this price level.

Good points
- Runs on generally available batteries
- Well made
- spot to flood focus very effective
- Blows old maglites out of the water
- supplied with a good quality pouch

Look Elsewhere for
- torches which are both brighter and smaller in this price range (but generally run on lithium CR123A batteries)
- More modes, T7 has 3 levels of brightness (1 of these only available by constantly pressing the switch), some other manufacturers offer more, allowing you to either have extreme brightness or extremely long run time.
- Even more rugged build. Other torches have toughened glass lenses (lenser is plastic i think), extreme waterproofing, better quality (type 3) anodised coating on the body

When choosing, look at manufacturers such as Fenix, Olight, Wolf Eyes, nitecore, there are many high-end flashlight makers.

I have this and a Fenix PD30, I use the fenix more often than not.

3.0 out of 5 stars Compact & Useful but not lasting, 11 Jun 2009
Very compact and useful, with a useful variety of tools for everyday life. In your bag or atached to your belt, you soon find yourself reaching for it to solve life's little problems several times a day.

However, after initially being impressed, I am doubtful about the quality here. The tool only been used lightly, and always kept in a pouch otherwise, but the blue anodised finish seems prone to chipping along the edges. Worst of all howewer is the bottle opener blade. Its thin constuction has allowed it to push aside the slip joint which holds it open, distorting the frame and effectively making this blade bend back uselessly in use

Can't play this because of steam. Hopefully it will eventually be resolved. As others have been a TW player since Shogun, but no more if they treat customers like this
