The Best Kept Secret: Sexual Abuse of Children
The Best Kept Secret: Sexual Abuse of Children

5.0 out of 5 stars A very useful analysis of child abuse, 1 May 2009
Florence Rush litterally has "hands on" experience with a dentist she visited as a small girl, and a mother who denied what she went through. With her experience as a social worker she relates interesting developments in history where time and again girls have been abused in institutions like the chuch and the family and have been blamed for it. Freud helped the prepetrators of child abuse enormously with his theorizing about lying children and subconscious desires. Het analysis on his writings are sharp and critical. Definitely a must read for anyone who is interested in child sexual abuse.

5.0 out of 5 stars Seriously one of the best, 1 May 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Most sitcoms degenerate in time, by changing actors or characters, sometimes by inserting jokes where they have run out of comic situations. Not so with Brittas Empire. The characters remain consistent with previous series; Gordon Brittas himself may seem more serious and less extreme than in previous situations, where a lot of the comedy is rooted in his obsession with certain rules and procedures. Still the human side of his character never turns the comedy into a soap, but makes comedy in the sense that "comecy is tragedy interrupted". It certainly is - this series at least - a comedy of high standard.

3.0 out of 5 stars Sad comedy, 1 Mar. 2009
After watching this film I realized there was not much opportunity to laugh unless you like the predictable slapstick-like women fighting over a boy/man scenes. Apart from these scenes the story was almost sad. I love the major plays by Alan Ayckbourn and find it hard to get any on dvd. This is not my favourite but the filmed version did not put me off. Good acting.
