5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Album, 7 Nov 2012
This review is from: Love Cook (Audio CD)
This is an excellent album and one of Ai Otsuka's best.

Otsuka's third album after Love Punch and Love Jam. This album went 3xPlatinum in Japan and really allowed Otsuka to stretch her talents and try a few different things. There are many catchy tunes that will stay in your head as you go about your day.

A very enjoyable album full of fun pop tunes and some nice slower ballads all including of course Otsuka's beautiful voice.

I love all the different versions of this song, since all of them are pure pleasure. The main vocalist has a great voice, this and the awesome melody and rocky feel make for a winning combination.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great soundtrack to a great anime, 13 July 2012

This is a great anime soundtrack. The music is gentle and relaxing and is able to stand both on its own or as an accompaniment to the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Little known Gem, 10 July 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
First off I am the first to admit that Chrome Shelled Regios is not a ground-breaking anime as it does fit several anime cliches and genres. However although the series is not ground breaking in its execution such as Code Geass or Death Note it does to much alot better than many other anime of the same mold.

The characters were very well written and likeable and had a lot more depth than can be expected from this sort of anime. There are many different issues dealt with by the characters from atonement, jealousy, dedication through to love and affection. Many things in the story are not as black and white as initially seen and this creates a nicely layered and exciting story.

The animation is very well done and the action scenes are nicely choreographed with very little shortcuts taken. Also the production values on this release are up to Funimations usual standards and both he dubbing and sub tracks are excellent.

I highly recommend this little known gem of an anime and just wish that a second season had been produced as several threads were left in the balance ready to be resolved.

The Impact Zone: How to Hit Like the Pros
The Impact Zone: How to Hit Like the Pros
by Bobby Clampett
Edition: Hardcover
Price: 15.30

4.0 out of 5 stars Didn't quite click for me., 3 Feb 2012
firstly let me state that I enjoyed the book and did gleam some usefull tidbits of info from it, however I really don't feel that in my opinion it deserves as much accolade as it recieves.

Bobby Clampett has done an excellent job of showing the average golfer the important details of the most important area of the swing however I feel that any lower handicapped player would and should already be doing much of what is discussed and therefore they will not gain as much from this book.

A Swing for Life
A Swing for Life
by Nick Faldo
Edition: Hardcover

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent., 3 Feb 2012
This review is from: A Swing for Life (Hardcover)
this is an extremely comprehensive book as you would expect from a methodical and technique based player such as Faldo was.

Every aspect of the game is covered here. As can be expected this book is heavily influeced by the theory of David Leadbetter however nick gives everything his own slant and views the information from the perspective of the player not the coach.

A must for any serious golfers library.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very enjoyable gentle drama, 2 Jan 2012
I bought this movie as a present for my daughter because it sounded somewhat mellow and relaxing, and it was exactly that. I was a bit concerned at the beginning that it would be hard to understand because the character's voices seem to have a slight accent to them, but after a few minutes I didn't notice it anymore. My 3 year old was entranced with the movie from the start. There were a couple moments she lost a bit of the story line and asked what/why something was happening, but her interest was still held from beginning to end.

The plot is quite subdued compared to most Disney and similar titles on the market. There is no violence or villains to contend with so there's no overly dramatic climax--it's very much a simple children's story brought to life without all the "let's add in adult humor/thrills so the parents can stand to watch it" type of things.

Also, I do have to say that I LOVED the soundtrack on this movie! The music was sweet, uplifting and relaxing. If the soundtrack were available on CD I'd buy it in a heartbeat!

Edition: Unknown Binding

5.0 out of 5 stars Unknown Gem, 10 Sep 2011
This review is from: Winning Golf. With illustrations
This is an excellent book. Simple and to the point with little fluff. I have many golf instruction books and this is among the best.

Written by an underrated legend of the game this should be in an enthusiast libray along side Hogan's Five fundamentals.

Paradox (2010)
Paradox (2010)
Dvd ~ Kevin Sorbo

5.0 out of 5 stars A little unknown gem., 22 Aug 2011
This review is from: Paradox (2010) (DVD)
In PARADOX, Sorbo portrays detective Sean Nault, a cop on a parallel Earth whose technology is powered exclusively by magic, where warriors fight, wizards fly, and the dead speak. Sean investigates a baffling series of murders committed by a means he's never seen before: the power of science. With the aid of Lenoir, a member of the ridiculed subculture of "pragmatists" who believe science is more than the stuff of myths and children's stories, and the 130-year-old sorcerer Winston Churchill, Sean uncovers an apocalyptic plot that will lead him to our world and the realization that, unless he prevents it, both Earths could well be destroyed.

Director Brenton Spencer ably moves the action forward in a mixture of action, magic, and a hint of film noir to it as well. Right from the start it feels like it came right out of one of the classic EC Comics of the 1950's, which suits PARADOX quite well. Sorbo is wonderfully convincing as Nault. At a running length of a brisk 86 minutes, the action is well paced and never lets up. Of the two Sorbo films, this is one I found myself really engaged in. And the visual effects are a treat and serve the film's story quite well.
