Scalextrix have done themselves no favour with this cheap, tacky and disappointing set.

The track is almost impossible to fit together without at least one lane or one part of the track not working. The bikes are terribly unstable and fall over at the slightest provocation. The whole thing feels cheap and nasty. Avoid!

4.0 out of 5 stars Well designed, robust and sturdy., 18 April 2014

It holds our phones securely, sticks to the windscreen without us worrying about whether it will fall off (it would be better if it stuck to the plastic dash on our car (Citroen c4 Picasso) as the windscreen is a long way from the front seats but the suction doesn't work because the dash is textured plastic).

Also, xperia z1 owners should probably avoid as the buttons on the phone are in just the wrong place. So you can only really put the phone in one way up as the other way means that the power button is constantly depressed and so the phone won't function. Even if you put it in the other way up then you can't access the volume buttons etc.

However, it works fine with my wife's galaxy s3. The phones gently snap into place very satisfyingly and the one button quick release system works faultlessly every time.

If you can then check whether your phone is compatible. My suspicion is that larger phones like my z1 may not fit so well. Even then it's still perfectly useable, just slightly frustrating.

I bought this for my ageing parents (both 60+). I showed them how to use it once and now they take it on all their many car journeys as well as using it at home to listen to their iPods etc through their home stereo.

Batteries last a good long time too. Great stuff.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent value for money, 18 April 2014

These headphones work well, are fairly comfortable but won't win any style points.

They connect seamlessly to every device I've tried them with. The battery life is great and they sit comfortably and fairly securely on the head. I use mine in the gyms and they stay in place even when I'm sweating and on the rowing machine or cross trainer.

The sound quality isn't great compared to higher priced Bluetooth headphones but it's excellent for the price. A little lacking in bass and the top end can be a little thin but it handles most styles of music (I have a very eclectic taste in music) perfectly well.

For the price these are an excellent purchase. They arrived very promptly and well packaged. I'm happy to recommend these to anyone who doesn't want to spend lots of money but still wants a decent, durable and very listenable set of headphones.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful book: Well written, honest and very funny in places., 13 Dec 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I can't recommend this book highly enough. It's not only a hugely enjoyable read but has also inspired me to get back on the bike and reminded me how enjoyable cycling can be. Mr Barter writes very well and one can't help but be sucked in to the world of crazy bike rides. I'm now really looking forward to his next book.
This book makes a great gift for anyone who loves riding their bike and also for people like me who love watching cycling and just need that last little push to get back on the bike themselves.
Excellent.

You heard me! Buy this song. Now. It is a work of genius from a musical pathfinder. You must have this song in your collection. You not only want it, you need it. Badly. It will make all other songs sound incompetent and half hearted.
(Slightky hyperbolic, I agree...but honestly, it's very very good!)

This review is from: Jumbo LCD Timer (Kitchen & Home)
Pros:
Big screen, clear figures (from straight on view anyway - not so great when viewed from an angle)
Accurate timing
You definitely will hear the alarm going off!
Decent price.
Quick delivery.

Cons:
Magnet is next to useless.
Stand isn't great.
Buttons are not very responsive when using one hand - you have to hold the unit with one hand and press buttons firmly with the other. Gets frustrating after a while.

End.

All Things Wise and Wonderful
All Things Wise and Wonderful
by James Herriot
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars It's hilarious!, 22 April 2004
This book, like all the others in the series, is hilarious.
Herriot has a wonderful style, easy to read and with great comic timing. Whether you like animals or not is irrelevant; Herriot's descriptions of varied happenings concern not just the treatment of many different beasts, from farm cows to canine house pets but also the developing love affiar with his wife-to-be Helen. All the events that occur in his life are very enjoyably described and the author has a nice line in self deprecation. I laughed out loud so regularly my wife banned me from reading them at night!
Perhaps Herriot was blessed to carve out a career and a life amongst such a rich range of charachters. From his colourful boss Siegfried to his many vastly different clients, Herriot brings every nuance and wrinkle to life on each page. But his writing also has the capacity to make the readerfeel a different range of emotions as he describes the odd tragic occurrence..
All this combines to evoke vivid images of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. Surely even residents of Lancashire will love these books!
The reader really feels as though he or she is amongst the people brought so vividly to life, and the fact that the books describe events from the 40's and 50's is unimportant compared to the enjoyment and pleasure that reading them engenders.
If you've seen the T.V. series and enjoyed them then you will love these books. If you've seen the T.V. series and not enjoyed them you will love these books. If you're thinking "what T.V. series?" then you will love these books. In short, everyone will love these books.

2.0 out of 5 stars Tour de France is no tour de force..., 3 Mar 2003
This review is from: Tour De France (Video Game)
As a dedicated bike fan I was really excited to get hold of a copy of this game. Emulate Lance Armstrong I though... the pain, the sweat, the tears, the sheer guts and bravery of the riders.
Wrong!
I suppose you have to give Konami some credit for bringing what is in most countries a minority sport to the ps2. But I just wish they'd spent more time on it. I am a huge fan of the pro evoloution soccer series, but as a previous reviewer has pointed out, whilst the gameplay in pes2 is almost perfect, the rest of the game is a let down. This time Konami haven't even got the gameplay right.
The main problem is that the game is almost impossible to beat. I have completed the tour de france (only 6 stages? why?) 4 times in the game, and the highest I've placed is 30th overall. The game doesn't make it clear enough what the player needs to do in order to succeed. You need to train, buy the right equipment, race and rest - and the game doesn't give you enough time to do this. You are awarded points towards your stats for training, but winning a race adds nothing to these stats. This is a ridiculous oversight. The result of this slack scoring system is that you may be able to gain enough cash to buy a decent bike, but then your rider is not good enough to take advantage. Catch 22!
I would not recommend this game apart from to the most dedicated bike fans. There is some pleasure to be derived from this title, but it's too fussy, too frustrating and too hard!
I don't think Konami will develop a second version of this game - but if they do I hope they make it a lot better.
