1.0 out of 5 stars Returned due to missing stones, 27 Nov. 2015

Had to return (twice) as stones were dislodged in the bracelet on arrival. Maybe a symptom of posting but still doesn't speak well to the quality of the manufacture.

These are pretty much budget earphones but don't let that put you off at all. The range of buds supplied are good, and while it is fiddly to get the units in the right place in your ear, it's worth spending some time fiddling with it to get it right. Once I found the sweet spot, the outside world disappeared and the music was fantastic.

Also spend some time with the weird white plastic mould things - fitting them inside your ear makes a huge difference to the fit and stability of the unit.

Connecting with my Samsung was very easy, though unfortunately for some reason I have to go into Samsung settings and activate the headphones each time I want to use them. Not sure if that is a Samsung issue or standard for these types of earphones. Connection was quick and easy though, and pairing was effortless compared to some other things my phone bluetooths with.

Love the sound quality.

I have an issue with the buttons though - I found myself regularly pressing them when I was using the earbuds, especially when putting them in and out of my ear. This led to many (and I mean lots!) of "Dialling last number" issues on my phone. Luckily you get plenty of notice but if your phone was in your bag, this might be an issue. I tried turning off the phone capability (in the Samsung UI) but this had no impact. Only a minor annoyance though and once the buds were in, this went away nicely.

Overall I'd recommend as an entry grade set of earphones. But heaven knows why the manufacturers are sticking with this gaudy yellow green colour on the band between the earpieces.

It really is just a crass, juvenile and utterly childish contraption by my god is it fun. Take your time to read the instructions and use the delayed trigger mode for extra 5 year old giggles.

Just a word of warning though, even if you did think it would be funny to take this on a plane (and I agree with you it would!) you won't get past security with it....

Great price and if you are stuck like me with an old consumer unit, plan ahead and buy these now rather than wait for that light to pop and pay 5 or 6 times this price in the shops, if you can find stock!

Can't really review a screwdriver set with any detail - it screws things in and out and the heads have not started burring or chipping. Good range of heads and handy storage - erm....

Never again will I buy a cheap / plastic cover - this thing has stayed firmly wrapped around my BBQ through some testing rain and wind sessions and I will buy more for other outdoor items - spend the extra once, rather than counting your savings several times I say.

4.0 out of 5 stars An interesting piece - ending was a let down but didn't ruin the book for me, 28 Oct. 2013

This review is from: Gone Girl (Kindle Edition)
I like Gillian Flynn's first book (Sharp Objects) and her style of writing really struck me as accessible without being simplistic. She has honed that in this novel too.

The story doesn't need going over - that's what the synopsis is for. The first two thirds of the book are a fascinating analysis of lots of different relationships, in the marriage, in the child-parent sense and the brother-sister sense. It is incredibly cleverly done and gripping, and I especially liked how one entry led neatly into the following one, not always in subject matter but in the use of similar or matching words which I felt really added flow to the reading and contributed to the inability to put it down.

There were some problems with it however - the ending is bizarre and not becoming of the rest of the story. It almost peters out in fact and while there was no point in the build up when I thought "this has now got silly" it was all contained in those last few pages. Nonetheless, and I stress this, the ending didn't ruin the remainder of the book at all and that in itself is probably an indication of how out of place it seems.

Am sure (and the acknowledgements would suggest) that research was not lacking in this book but I also find the way that the police behaved as the second part comes to and end and the third part of the story is a little unbelievable. And the behaviour and character of Desi (and his mother) was a little contrived in order to get the necessary twist in. It's not being overly generous to say that it's probably because so little time could be devoted to Desi (due to the narrative style adopted) and the book couldn't afford a third voice or a further distraction from the plot; and equally some of the antics of people in Amy's formative years (especially her friend, whose name I have forgotten) were more like "oh so THAT's why you told me that earlier" rather than being a natural flow.... but again it's hard to flesh out characters when the style of narration is so first person.

Overall, don't be put off from reading this - watching the way the relationships constantly change is fascinating and easy to see reflected in my own life, though not to that extreme. Some of the characters are not fully developed which is a shame and the proposed movie will probably fill that out.

1.0 out of 5 stars Could have been great... but wasn't, 20 April 2013
This is a lesson in panic buying a book based on reviews and sale prices. The story sounded great and there was definitely promise in it.

But the way the plot developed was poor... And so many questions were left unanswered. Not in a clever 'you will never know' way but rather with the feeling that the writer was running out of words. Which is surprising seeing as he wasted so many of them on utterly irrelevant scenes and subplots.

The whole behaviour of the 2 tormentors lacked any context or reason. Is it enough to just say they are mean and so be it. I don't think so.

And the behaviour of the 2 protagonists was utterly unbelievable. No explanation for why the coma victim was so at ease with the perpetrators... The method of the accident was simply too coincidental to possibly be the entire modus operandi of 2 accomplished criminals etc.

I so wanted this book to be great but it lacked anything at all to make it stand out. So many of the premises on which it was based were flakey at best.

I won't be rushing to read any more of his books however cheaply they are priced.

This looks great in my office and is sleek and fits right in with the rest of the equipment. Others look really cheap and plasticy - so top marks for this!
