5.0 out of 5 stars Loved this book, although it left me feeling very sad about the ongoing situation in Tibet, 30 April 2014
I've just finished this book and thought it was excellent; an extremely skilfully woven narrative encompassing Charlie's own journey through Tibet, as well as the remarkable story of a Tibetan man he meets along the way. I knew a bit about the country before reading this book but was saddened to read quite how oppressive life is there for the Tibetans, and how spies, torture and disappearances are still part of everyday life under Chinese rule. Charlie's tale reminds us how important it is to visit the beleaguered nation, and to let the world know the reality of life behind those often closed borders. Charlie is emerging as a gifted and exciting young travel writer and I look forward to his next tome.

I honestly can not think of a travel book I have been more thrilled, humbled and generally astounded by; nor a real life adventure I have been more in an awe of. A phenomenal achievement recounted in enviably brilliant style. Roll on Part 3.....

Dark Waters (the Expedition Trilogy, Book 1)
by Jason Lewis

Price: £12.00

5.0 out of 5 stars A proper adventure, beautifully told, 17 Nov 2013
Jason is a rare breed: a true adventurer who can write brilliantly. Not only is this an eye-wateringly gripping story of exceptional physical and mental endurance, but it's told wonderfully. Jason writes lyrically, honestly and with lashings of wit. I absolutely can't wait until the next installments...

No Fixed Abode: A Journey Through Homelessness from Cornwall to London
No Fixed Abode: A Journey Through Homelessness from Cornwall to London
by Charlie Carroll
Edition: Paperback
Price: £6.29

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent and thought provoking - an extremely brave endeavour, 7 Oct 2013
I'm a big fan of books about the underbelly of society - books that reveal everyday realities we rarely get to see - such as Orwell's Down and Out... and Stuart: A Life Backwards. Charlie's book was just as enjoyable. I thought he was incredibly brave doing what he did, exposing himself to the people and places he met. The book is a fascinating journey through modern homelessness. I hope it will make a lot of people think very differently about the issue. Not only that but it's honest and extremely well written. Charlie deserves a lot of success with his book and I hope to read many more of his. Buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspiring book by a brave lady, 20 May 2013
Read this book over a weekend and was gripped by Jennifer's tale of Tilos. Her story will resonate with a huge amount of people, as well as inspire readers to be bold in attaining their dreams. A lovely portrait of a Greek island too...
Highly recommend it
