4.0 out of 5 stars Very good BUT know what you're buying, 13 Dec 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Bought these to use hiking because normal gloves don't give you any grip on rock. These do have grip, and are certainly great in that department, but leave your hands absolutely freezing. They're rubber fingertips and offer no insulation beyond keeping the wind off your fingers. This isn't to say there's anything wrong with them - only that you shouldn't get these hoping for something to keep you warm.

Had the RAM in my PC for around 2 months now and all's going well - supports a fairly powerful graphics card and had no problems so far.

5.0 out of 5 stars Does what it says on the tin, 25 Oct 2011
A good book - practical, useful advice for anyone aiming to get into the industry. As someone in that position myself right now, it's proving invaluable. The interviews with well-established industry professionals is a highlight, also.

3.0 out of 5 stars You'll Either Love It or Hate It, 5 Aug 2011
I found this an intriguing book. For all that's both good and bad about it, it's definitely unique. To explain a little:

Firstly, the language used is archaic throughout. This makes it a tough read, but also educational. I found that having the Kindle to look up words helped immensely and meant that the language didn't end up detracting too much from the actual reading experience. While it was frustrating at times, I can also say that I've expanded my vocabulary somewhat and finding out just what each word meant was sometimes interesting in itself.

Secondly, for some reason the first chapter is just awful. It's boring and confusing, and utterly fails to draw in the reader. It was the best I could do to skim it in the hope that it would lead to something better.

Thankfully, though, it did. The book really begins once you're into the second chapter, and from that point on the story becomes quite good. There is depth to the characters, and you are given good, continual insights into what they are thinking and feeling. With constant reference to the context of medieval Spain in which it's set, there is also plenty of intrigue and a number of sub-plots that keep your attention.

Overall, it's very much a literary work, and most likely best suited to very literary-minded people or those interested in medieval or literary history. It's something people will either enjoy or give up on.

So, if you're interested in medieval Spain (with the language of the period to boot), this is for you. Otherwise, do make sure that you read the sample first to see if it's your kind of thing before you buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Ground Mat. Definitely a Good Investment, 10 Mar 2011
This is going to sound like marketing speak but I could only remember not sleeping when I went camping as a kid. Now that I've started backpacking with a friend, I did my homework before buying a ground mat. This seemed to have the best reviews, so I took the plunge.

It really does the job it's supposed to. Although it won't fully inflate by itself, this actually doesn't matter too much because it's still have enough air in it to keep you from getting any of the cold from the ground or feeling small rocks sticking into your back. It packs up nice and small and comes with its own repair kit, too. I bought one for myself and one for my girlfriend, and would definitely recommend it.

Excellent ground mat. No complaints whatsoever. Good brand.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great for the Price but COLD, 10 Mar 2011
I had to buy an extra army poncho blanket to go with this because it's really thin and won't keep you particularly well insulated. Saying that, however, it comes at a great price so I really don't feel that I can complain.

Nothing wrong with this sleeping bag as such - just bear in mind that it's better suited to the beach in Thailand than the hills of Scotland!

5.0 out of 5 stars Double Use. Does the Job., 10 Mar 2011
This has been on two backpacking trips, one road trip, and through customs, and it's done the job admirably in all cases (was especially happy to successfully get my 100 litre backpack inside this thing, padlock the two zips for security, and get it checked in at Heathrow airport without any fuss). It folds up small too, so won't take up much space in an otherwise full backpack when you're out in the hills.

Definitely a good buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Does the job and easy to pack up and carry, 10 Mar 2011
Just don't get it wet, as I'm not sure cleaning would be too easy. But for something to go in your backpack with your sleeping bag and ground mat? Yeah, it does the job perfectly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Tent. Great Design. Great Buy., 10 Mar 2011
This review is from: Coleman Avior(TM) X3 (Sports)
Yeah, what can I say? This thing just does the job it's supposed to. Very easy to put up. Easy to put away. Well designed, and the airflow is good. Been on two 2-day backpacking trips into the mountains of Taiwan, and one 3-day road trip with this and can safely say that it's a sound investment.

Excellent tent. Very satisfied, and I'd buy again from this brand.

Only other thing worth mentioning - and this is important - is that IT WON'T FIT 3 PEOPLE. This is definitely a 2-man tent, NOT 3 (it would simply be physically impossible to have 3 people sleep in it). But I'd seen that from reviews before I bought it. So if you bear that in mind, you won't be disappointed.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poorly designed. Don't buy this., 13 Jan 2011
This bag is poorly designed. Don't buy it. The plastic buckles snap and the weight is not properly distributed through the main central strap that goes from your shoulder straps into the pack itself, meaning that all of the weight hangs from the two smaller straps on either side (and cutting into your shoulders). It also sags low, as the other main strap around your waist is poorly padded and doesn't sit well on your hips.

I have been on two 2-day hikes with this backpack and would NOT recommend it. I suppose I got my money's worth because it's relatively cheap, but I'm now convinced that you'll get more for your money long-term if you invest in a better-known brand.
