This book changed my life, 19 Nov 2010
This book was recommended to me and I have to say that I have a very contented 4 month old baby who started sleeping through the night at 7 weeks old. I just cannot understand parents who think this book is close to child abuse (!!) Not once does it say let your baby starve, or do not give baby love etc. I truly believe that the people who diss this method have totally misinterpreted its principles!! There
is a huge emphasis on flexibility and doing things to suit you. Its famous words are "the routine is there to serve you not shackle you" can easily be interpreted into "you are my slave baby, and you will do whatever I want you to do" (!!) But this is definitely not how Ezzo means for it to come across!
I just wish that parents would stop being so precious about their children, why does your life have to be miserable and full of sleepless nights once you have kids?? Why is it that most parents want to put their hand over your shoulders and moan "ahh, welcome to motherhood" as if they are glad you are joining in their misery of sleepless nights and choas?
If this book hasnt worked for you, then you have been taking things too seriously worrying about the "welfare" and "psychology of the baby" - what utter tosh!! Babies do not know their head from their feet - let alone about their own "welfare". They need guidance and as a parent you can chose to guide them OR stand back and let the baby decide for themselves (lol, like they are supposed to know!)
I totally believe that anyone who disagrees with this book is jealous- jealous that other people have babies who actually sleep through the night whilst they have such a terrible time !
I dont disagree with mums who feed on demand as it is completely their choice but seriously, to diss this method shows massive ignorance. EVERYONE I know who have used this book have wonderful happy babies who sleep and eat well. Co-incidence?? I don't think so.
