5.0 out of 5 stars Set Sail for the Seven Seas., 17 Jun 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This series revolves around the Elizabethan era of British history. Though some of the characters are real historic people the tales
that involves them are, I suspect, historic fiction. Never the less great entertainment value. What is a pity is they are not in colour as a custome drama such as this deserves to be.
If you buy this box set you will be totally happy and feel you have spent your money wisely.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Cracker of a series !!1, 16 Jun 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
When I bought this series it brought back memories of the early 60's where the purpose of ITV was to entertain and not just sell
advertisments.
Even thought the star is an American, the show had a terrific Australian feeling about itself. At that time we had only seen two T.V.
series come out of Australia.' The Adventures of Long John Silver' and 'The Flying Doctors', I hope both these series will become available soon along with another Aussie series of the 60's called 'The Adventures of the Seaspray'.
All are good value for money!
Whiplash has all the qualities needed to hold your attention to the plots it has in its storylines.

3.0 out of 5 stars a taster for Okinawa, 10 Sep 2011
This review is from: Okinawan Karate Voyage (DVD)
This is an interesting d.v.d. on Okinawa and Karate, more like a tourist guide of the island. The sound at times is a little muffled because of its outdoor nature and traffic in the near vicinity. The karate part of the
d.v.d. is a little scimpy,it could of included more rare katas of karate and kobudo than it showed but there again
very few d.v.d. do show something new and not previously seen .

Everyone who has a t.v. and a d.v.d. should buy this serie, it shows how good t.v. dramas use to be.
It shows how good scripts use to be, the actors were the best of the best, and in some cases before they
became famous. The action shoot-outs were brilliant, the violence implied for the time was unbelieveable(1959-1962).
This serie cause more controversy I would think than any before or since. But anybody who is a ardent t.v. fan will
want to have this serie, all 4 of them. Young people who have never seen this serie will be amazed by the quality of
it,so go out and buy it on Amazon, the prices are unbelieveable for probably the greatest serie ever put on t.v..

4.0 out of 5 stars must have historic & archive DVD !!!, 12 July 2011
A very good DVD, only two faults with it.
One is the shortness, one always wants more.!!!
Secondly, being recorded from old film stock the quality of the picture is not of the finest.
But anybody who is interested in the martial arts and in particular kobujutsu can not miss this opportunity to see one of the truly great masters and his students in action.
