Most underrated album of the 90s, 29 Jan 2007
To say that this is a Frank Black solo album, or a heavy metal album is simply not fair. Sure Kim Deal doesn't quite have the same presence as on Doolittle and Surfer Rosa, but we shouldn't hold this against it. Just let the music speak for itself. Fifteen punk classics, and no meaningless filler like 'I'm amazed' or 'You fuckin die'. Let's face it, the oddball humour of the Pixies previous records made them original, but it sometimes got in the way. Finally, the Pixies have matured and recorded a masterpiece that is different to Doolittle, but every bit as perfect, and for that we should be thankful.
