3.0 out of 5 stars Center sharpness fine but corners have problems, 11 May 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The slower brother of this Sigma seems to be a tad better lens but it depends on your shooting distance. If you can find a properly centered 4-5.6 version of this lens or Tokina 11-16 mm lens, you should be fine even with corners after stopping down.

All these lenses have QC issues (including Tokina) so it is worth comparing a few before finalising the sale. For example, I have now tested a couple of Sigmas and three Tokina 11-16mm lenses. The differences are no minor if you do critical work. So a good copy of this lens can beat a bad copy of Tokina - which explains that mixed reviews which can be found from the net.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works fine and cheap, 11 May 2014

I have been using this for a couple of weeks. Appears to be quite accurate, needs 1-2 minutes to stabilise but after that pretty much spot on. Not the most logical menus but for this price I am not complaining!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best opener in the market but beware of fake copies sold here!, 11 May 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I have used this model for 15 years or so, does not break or slip like the cheap models. So five stars for the product!

I just recently decided to by another one through Amazon. I chose a company which looked reputable - or I thought so. The seller had a logo which looks like ToysRUs, except that they are called "Toys And Us". They sent me a fake copy which does not even look like the real thing or say "Brabantia" anywhere. There are no holes in the handles etc. and it says "Apollo Kitchenware" on the sticker. So I got a cheap chinese copy worth 99p instead of the real thing.

So if you are wondering why the price is so cheap at Amazon, there is your answer!

1.0 out of 5 stars Very short lfetime, 7 Jan. 2013
I bought a batch of these. They look very professionally made and are CE-marked. However, they will burn after just in a weeks; one would expect to get at least 2,000 hours normally.

I would avoid PROLITE brand as choosing them are not good for your wallet or the environment. If you check the other Prolite product review, you will see that other reviewers have also commented on the short lifetime and/or other problems.

Proudly made in Britain??

1.0 out of 5 stars Oh dear, 21 Oct. 2012

This book claims to cover lots of made-up languages, like Elvish as mentioned in the cover. Well, beyond the cover Elvish is mentioned ONCE on page 4 - but only mentioned. Other languages are pestered with typos and errors. For example, Sananmuunnos is misspelled and the explanation of the language is app. 4 lines and does not make any sense.

Avoid this book, complate waste of money

5.0 out of 5 stars What a book - forget the movie, 16 July 2012
Regardless of the debatable merits of the recent Will Smith version of I Am Legend, one good thing to come out of the films release is that more people are exposed to the superb novel the movie is based on.

It's hard to believe that this novel was first published in 1954, as it remains remarkably fresh and contemporary. In fact, with modern concerns over the enviroment and mankind's place in the universe, the novel seems even more pertinent.

I Am Legend is a delightful enigma. Is it a horror story? A tragic character study? An exploration of man's isolation in a terrifyingly plausible future? Well it's all those things and more and in the final analysis ends up being simply one of the most beautifully written novels in any genre. Richard Matheson's writing manages to wring every ounce of tension and tragedy out of the story that by the end you feel as drained as our protagonist, Robert Neville.

And be assured, there's a reason why Hollywood's had three cracks at adapting it.

Compared to a Stephen King (unsatisfying, tired-of-the-novelist, crappy endings) novel, I am Legend is pure quality from beginning to end.

This one grips you from the start with a great human story that evolves to one of the most satisfying, and pretty terrifying, conculsions to any horror novel I have read. Buy it and remind yourself why reading can be such a pleasure. This is a classic novel of the 20th Century.

1.0 out of 5 stars All the hype for, 12 May 2012
I could not get past the first 50 pages as I felt so angry about this shameless exploitation of Takami's Battle Royale. Like the original movie Ring, the western version is rubbish. Same actually applies here, what a waste of trees. If you want to try these titles, buy/steal a Kindle version and then destroy them. Make sure you have seen the original film and/or read the book.

2.0 out of 5 stars Variable coffeee until breaks down, 18 April 2012
Like someone else said here, this machine produces variable quality coffee. On a good day it is fine but sometimes quite awful. These come with long warranty but our broke down just after a year (again, same experience as with other reviewers). Getting replacement takes months as "manufacturer's" customer service open only in Thursdays so it will take 7 days to get an answer to your emails. The "manufacturer" in UK does not have any stocks but these are being shipped apparently from China. I somehow suspect that that is the country of origin as well.

The pump seems to be the weakest link, you can descale the machine every week but in the end the pump will give up and you need a replacement.

This machine is cheap and cheerful, you get what you pay for.
