5.0 out of 5 stars Soooo good - catchy songs and great characters., 5 Sept. 2013

Used this in conjunction with the book for a whole 4 week unit of work on the environment and persuasive writing with year 5. The children loved the video shown in stages (at that time the film had not been released in UK) and learned the catchy tunes. Great when compared with the book and had fantastic discussions about why the story was developed to include Thneedville and the character of Ted. Also the extra videos on how to draw the characters were much enjoyed and the children followed them well to produce great pictures of their own. Moved on to creating clay and other 3D models.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great story, 5 Sept. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought the book because I heard about the new film in 2012. Used it with my year 5 class, first read book and discussed it. Then watched the first part of the video and the class were full of it... A great discussion ensued over why the film would start so differently and we moved into a 4 week unit of exciting and stimulating topic work on report writing, persuasive writing, research into the environment and the destruction of the rainforest .....

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for book week and developing storytelling skills both oral and written., 5 Sept. 2013

Great stories and useful resources. My year 5 class have really enjoyed the interesting storylines and different structures of these stories and the ideas in the resource book are really helpful and inspiring. We have taken two days to explore and develop the structure and theme of The Man in Search of his Luck and the children's storytelling skills have flourished. We have also enjoyed the short stories: Regrets and The Impossible Escape which offer a different angle and opportunities for PSHE and discussion. The storytelling videos are a good resource and the 'how to' support videos are clear, helpful and short. You don't need the story book too but it is useful.

Bought this to replace my old copy. It is just the same with beautiful colour illustrations incorporating lots of detail. I use these in my primary classroom and children from 5 - 11 have all enjoyed the stories. Lots of quality writing has been achieved from detailed examination of the various scenarios in the pictures.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully illustrated, 1 Feb. 2013

As a teacher I find these books so useful as they tell the stories well and yet are not too long-winded for the lessons. In addition the illustrations are so colourful and detailed the children always gain so much more from them. We have often created several detailed paragraphs each describing a character or scenario from one of the larger scenes. My own children have also enjoyed them as have visiting little ones.

Ours is on the fridge near the door. We put the keys on as soon as we come in and never have to look for them - unless we are at work! It is strong and holds even our largest bunch of 10 keys including the Boofle teddy key ring.
