Fascinating, 16 July 2012
I bought this book as I was always interested in Jung and had read some of his works years ago.
It is not a general introduction but I found it very readable and fascinating. I see Jung as much as
a visionary as a psychologist/psychiatrist and his reasoning that we cannot live without reference to
our collective past makes complete sense.
His archetypes are fascinating and he explains that these symbols or motifs recurred again and again with
different patients of varying experience and learning. From this he posits that they are not simply constructed
by the psyche but are independent of it and inhabit a collective unconscious.
For all his learning what comes out of the pages is his deep humanity.
A book to own and re-read.
