5.0 out of 5 stars Another great pair of glasses from Read Optics, 15 Nov 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is my second pair of off the peg readers from Read Optics, and they're just as nice as the first pair. Comfortable, well made, do the job beautifully. Got a higher strength, this time, for reading, and again, the excellent anti glare coating is really useful. Especially good when reading on the brighter screens of iPads and some ereaders.

These reading glasses also look great, and I'd say the word 'chic' in the description is quite apt. Read Optics glasses also arrive in really good packaging that protects them in transit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent high quality reading glasses., 15 Nov 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Really delighted with these off the peg readers. I've bought various pairs from various companies, over the years, but these are the best I've discovered. They have a sturdy, quality feel, but are light and comfy to wear, with sprung hinges. The anti glare coating is also very effective. I use this pair for computer work, and the anti glare really helps.

They're also a very attractive design. Stylish and fun.

I've already bought another pair in a different design from Read Optics and will probably stick with them in future for non optician reading glasses.

5.0 out of 5 stars neat and easy to use, 23 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
These little cable tidies are cleverly designed and easy to use. You just coil up your headphone cable and snap one of these magnetic widgets around the coil and it holds it neatly together and avoids tangles. When you want to unwind your cable, just snap open the little magnetic catch and there you are, ready to use.

I've tried cable tidies where you wind the cable around them, but they're much more of a faff than these nifty little gadgets. With several sets of headphones in the house for a variety of devices, I'll soon be ordering more of these Proportas.

Mivizu Buddy Rubberized Back Cover for iPad Mini 2012 Release (Frost Gray) Smart Cover Compatible
Mivizu Buddy Rubberized Back Cover for iPad Mini 2012 Release (Frost Gray) Smart Cover Compatible

5.0 out of 5 stars Just the job!, 19 May 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I'm very pleased with this back cover. It's just what I wanted as I found the slippery back of the Mini difficult to hold sometimes. This Mivizu Buddy flts beautifully and provides a much better grip while protecting the iPad too. It fits perfectly, the cutouts are spot on, and the Smartcover still works as normal.

Quite a reasonable price too.

Reckless
Reckless

5.0 out of 5 stars Recklessly delicious!, 3 Sep 2008
This review is from: Reckless (Paperback)
I really loved this delicious book. It's a terrific, highly readable erotic romance, and I devoured it quickly in more or less one long reading session, which is unusual for me, as I'm usually someone who reads relatively slowly.

The heroine is Katrina, an art valuer, who goes to the Catalonia region of Spain to assess and catalogue the great collection of a prominent Catalan family. When she gets there, she becomes entangled in an intriguing mystery. All is not as it seems, and as the story unfolds family secrets are revealed and masks ripped away to uncover the true nature of the various central characters.

Katrina is a lovely heroine. She seems very real and three dimensional, not some idealised kick ass super-vixen or anything. She's very much at a cross roads in her life, and she's reaching out for new experiences and to expand her horizons after a disappointment. As the title suggests, sometimes she's a bit reckless, and behaves very daringly, but that only makes her all the more endearing and likeable, and easy to identify with.

And the men? Well, I can't say too much about them for fear of giving away too much about the exciting romantic suspense plot. In the beginning, there are *two* hot hunks who could quite easily be the hero, but as the story unfolds, the right man emerges as Katrina's love interest, and he's hypnotically ultra masculine, mysterious and complex. Totally yum!

The region of Catalonia - esp. Barcelona - and art itself are also characters in the book in a way. Saskia Walker's descriptions are lush and evocative, really bringing out the vibrant character of that part of Spain. I went there myself, many years ago, and reading Reckless took me right back to that trip and stirred up great memories. And Ms. Walker also really knows and loves her art, which comes across clearly in the book in the form of Katrina's appreciation of and response to the beautiful works she has to catalogue.

Reckless is a page turning romantic suspense story, but also sublimely erotic, with toe curlingly sensual love scenes that sizzle on the page and make you wish you were right there in the Catalan moonlight with a mysterious, darkly passionate stranger making desperate love to you! Phoooarrggh!

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent romance, excellent story, 31 Jan 2002
This review is from: Running for Cover (Paperback)
I really enjoyed RUNNING FOR COVER. Not only is it a realistic and affecting love story between two complex, modern people, but it also has a gripping and very contemporary sub plot involving terrorism and politics in a Latin American state. I found it very easy to identify with the heroine, Liz, who is both vulnerable and strong; and the hero, Jude, is deep, difficult, tantalizing, and of course, satisfyingly gorgeous.
The prose is flowing and natural, and the story moves along at a brisk, unputdownable pace.
I thoroughly recommend this beautifully written and believable romantic novel.

5.0 out of 5 stars shadows of the past affect the future of love, 27 Jan 2002
This review is from: Dark Obsession (Paperback)
I very much enjoyed DARK OBSESSION. It's an extremely well written love story with a crackling conflict between its feisty yet emotional heroine and the hero, who is every bit the tall, dark, handsome and complex man that all women dream of. Although DARK OBSESSION delivers a traditional and very satisfying happy ending, there are lots of twists and turns along the way, and the fact that the heroine is a single mother facing the trials and tribulations of bringing up a child alone makes it especially relevant to contemporary life. The language throughout is modern and realistic and the love scenes are passionate but delicately handled.
Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars a romance, but much more, 9 Aug 2001
STAY VERY CLOSE is a powerful, involving romantic novel but it's also much, much more than that. The love story between Isabel and Max is interwoven with a compelling thriller plot that grips the imagination and keeps you turning the pages until its conclusion. Angela Drake is a gifted and very intelligent writer with a wonderful, evocative voice that combines realism with a thoughtful, almost lyrical quality.
I wholeheartedly recommend this excellent book, written by a talented member of the Romantic Novelists' Association.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another smashing book from Anita Burgh, 5 Aug 2001
This review is from: Exiles (Paperback)
'Exiles' is the continuing story of Kate Howard, the author heroine of Anita Burgh's earlier book 'Advances'. Kate's life is entirely different now, and Anita describes the trials and joys of the expatriate world with a sharply observant eye and a warm, down to earth voice. Her characters are vibrant and realistic, and you soon find yourself rooting for Kate as she faces the complications of being a successful author and at the same time being involved in a stormy relationship.
If you enjoy well written contemporary fiction with strong, interesting female characters, you will love this novel... Do read it!
This is another great book by a member of the Romantic Novelists' Association.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another marvellous book from Madeleine Wickham!, 17 July 2001
SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS by Madeleine Wickham is an education in how to write contemporary women's fiction well. I've loved all her books, but this is one of her best yet. Full of complex, realistic characterisation, and with a fantastic 'voice' and a beautiful turn of phrase. And her plotting is so simply yet so skilfully put together that as a writer myself it makes me sigh with envy. But not in a negative way. It's the sort of book that inspires me to do better and raise my own game, as well as filling me with ideas.
I strongly recommend anyone who loves good fiction to read SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS. And if you read this review, Madeleine... please hurry up with your next book. I can't wait to read it!
