This review is from: THE SECOND COMING PB (Paperback)
It is clear that the first two reviewers were out to have a go at MacArthur because they don't agree with his eschatological views. Here are some comments about the book itself. First it's a 200 page work on future events from a futurist/dispensational viewpoint. It has 10 chapters dealing with the following issues: the Biblical data on the imminency of Christ's return, the great tribulation, the timing of the second coming and the folly of date-setting, the context of Matthew 24 and 25 and the various judgemtns envisioned in prophetic scripture. Included are: a glossary of terms, a scripture index and a general index. Also included is an article by A W Pink on the "Imminent Return of the Redeemer."

As always, the prolific author John MacArthur writes well. I do not agree with his Calvinistic views but this book is not about Calvinism! It is a serious look at what the Bible prophesies for the last times. I would recommend this book to any serious reader.

From Darwin to Hitler: Evolutionary Ethics, Eugenics, and Racism in Germany

5.0 out of 5 stars Meticulous Research, 16 Jan. 2008
I had known for a long time that the Nazis used Darwinism to promote their racial theories to their own people etc., but until I read Weikart's book I had more or less assumed that this was just a Hitler thing - a hijack of Darwin's theory for his own ends. However, it turns out that Hitler was a product of a country whose medical, scientific, academic and philosophical disciplines has swallowed and been taken over by Darwinism while Hitler was still in short trousers. Weikart proves beyond any shadow of a doubt to any impartial reader that Darwin's own racial views, which were intertwined with his theory of evolution, were a direct cause of the German way of thinking that produced Hitler, the Holocaust, Mengele's experiments and the eugenics movement. This is a much more in-depth book than Gasman's "The Scientific Origins of National Socialism".

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best, 14 Aug. 2006
As far as a general booklet to give to a person to explain what salvation is, there is nothing better than Ultimate Questions. John Blanchard has written two other great give away books like this: one for sceptics called "Is Anyone Out There?" and another called "Where is God When Things God Wrong?" All of these booklets are the best in their class.

5.0 out of 5 stars Devastating, 15 Mar. 2006
This is a high quality documentary featuring leading art experts, historians and archaeologists from around the world. It is filmed in the various locations featured in Dan Brown's book and exposes the misleading and inaccurate information that he claims to be 'fact'. Every major issue in The Da Vinci Code is addressed and coherent intellectually satisfying answers are given. It is not a production by the Catholic church to defend itself. It has been produced by a non-Catholic film company and most of those interviewed are not from the Catholic church. It is a fair, accurate and scholarly look at Dan Brown's best-seller and I highly recommend it as the best DVD on the subject.

Breaking the Spell: Religion as a Natural Phenomenon

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, 15 Mar. 2006
Having just read Alister McGrath's devastating critique of Richard Dawkins' meme theory (in Dawkins' God published by Blackwell), I am disappointed to see the rehashing of this fatally flawed idea in Dennett's Breaking the Spell. The meme theory was interesting when it was first suggested but empirical data on this philosophical invention of Dawkins' has not been forthcoming, which puts it on the same level as much of the religious superstition Dennett is seeking to discredit in this work.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Most Powerful Case for a Creator ever put on film., 15 Nov. 2005
If the specified complexity of DNA was enough to convince leading atheist Anthony Flew that there must be a creator, it's clear that this argument for the existence of God (the intelligent designer) carries considerable weight. With its stunning computer graphics and intellectually compelling commentary, this DVD is without doubt the most powerful documentary ever produced giving evidence for a creator. Put together with its companion DVD, The Privileged Planet, these two DVDs are making waves and convincing thousands that "In the beginning God created..."
