A great album harshly compared against Rio, 18 Mar 2007
After acquiring this album and having a lengthened listen too I can safely say that in my view some peoples comments have been harsh. Not only have you got 3 hit songs in `New Moon On Monday' , `Union Of The Snake' and `The Reflex' which holds up fine without being the Niles remix but it contains a song that has an unbeatable chorus which everyone loves in Duran Duran and that's `Cracks in the Pavement' - the highlight of the album. It also has another fine two tracks in `Of Crime and Passion' and `Shadows on your Side' which hold up well and finally a fine instrumental piece in `Tiger Tiger`. And that is the majority of your album which leaves `Seventh Stranger' and `I Take the Dice' - 2 not to my taste.
This album is harshly compared against the album Rio, yes we all know Rio was magnificent in every track but this album has a whole different feel and sound in places - a progression of sorts. Imagine if `Is there something I should know' was on this album as well? I'd call it `total class' if it was, but even so this album done what its predecessors didn't and that was hit the number 1 spot in the album chart - rightly so too. Overall most should find this a comfortable and enjoyable listen through out, don't put it in your stereo player and expect to hear Rio reincarnated - its not, hear a fine credit to Duran Durans musical capabilities.
