5.0 out of 5 stars Really useful, 30 Jun. 2013

A great product to have in bulk because I rarely worry about running out. Ecover do have refilling stations in some shops but none near me so I just keep it all on hand. Great not to have to have unnecessary packaging. My product came like boxed wine- a plastic bag of liquid with a spout in a cardboard box. The refilling process is easy- it only takes a few seconds and it doesn't make a mess. Well worth it.

A really good little product- exactly what I needed to complete my new flat. It is perhaps not the best quality and the chairs are super uncomfortable, but I rarely use it as a breakfast bar- it's an extension of my kitchen counter with bonus storage.

Are gift cards the easy option? Probably, but they are so easy and sometimes the best option. They may lack imagination, but at least the receiver can get something they actually want.

Bought this for a Marmite lovers Christmas present. Possibly not the most inspired gift but it did the job and was well received.

3.0 out of 5 stars Does the job, 30 Jun. 2013

This is a useful bit of kit that does what it's supposed to. The only problem is that while the brush cleans the side of the test tubes well, it doesn't do much for the bottom which is where most of the stuff settles and needs cleaning from. Still, this is a problem with most products and this one is no worse than others.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly what I needed, 30 Jun. 2013

Exactly what I needed- the spatula is small and solid but a little bit springy which makes it great for testing. Not too wide and long enough to fit into a test tube which is what I needed it for.

These very sweet craft buttons made a wonderful gift for an avid crafting mother. I'm not sure what she'll use them for, but she was very pleased with them.

1.0 out of 5 stars A wet and soggy summer, 30 Jun. 2013

I wanted to like this- I'd heard so many people talking about how wonderful it is, now I really wish I'd asked them WHAT exactly they liked about it. I'm not sure how- the writing is not great- but this is a vanity book. People will tell you they love it because it's about art, darling, and the human condition. If you don't love it, you're not sophisticated enough for it. In fact it's about neither of these things. It's barely about anything.

The Newlyn School setting is interesting and the landscape itself is well enough described to be atmospheric, the problem comes when characters are introduced. The main three are completely feckless. How the author manages to make a character like Munnings 2D is impressive and I can only hope the real life Florence had more to recommend her- from this account I fail to understand what these men were attracted to at all. She was beautiful. Apparently that's enough of a motivation to drag us all into this slogging soppy saga.

*spoilers*
These were real people- it's a shame there was no attempt to explain or understand their motivations. Why were Florence and Munnings married? There is no explanation as to why they went through with it when NOBODY involved thought it was a good idea and there were plenty of other options. Why didn't Evans grow a pair and get on with wooing the woman when he had the chance (possibly because he wasn't really that interested- who would be when the character has no redeeming qualities?) Why did I nearly cheer when Florence finally made a decision to DO something with her life (even thought that choice was...). Feckless, insipid and reactionary.

One of the people that recommended this to me so highly hadn't, at first, even realised that Florence was pregnant in the end. Perhaps reading it superficially makes this bearable?
