5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Treasury of Encounters With The Miraculous 16th Karmapa, 7 Jan 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A remarkable book full of magic, touching humanity and laughter. The accounts have the same vibrant, joyful and yet deeply moving qualities with which those fortunate enough to have met The 16th Karmapa all seem to become illuminated by when they talk of him. As many of those who knew the 16th Karmapa get older, Norma Levine has done a great service in gathering together their stories for future generations to wonder at and enjoy. There are many photographs throughout, often taken from personal collections not widely seen elsewhere before. Hopefully this book will be read throughout and beyond the Buddhist community as a collection of encounters with a phenomenal man who was, at one and the same time, entirely beyond the everyday experience of most of us, and yet so deeply grounded in it as to be immediately accessible.

From the moment you first pull or push this barrow, it is obvious some serious design work has gone into it. Ideal for large amounts of low density material (eg prunings, leaves, straw) or moderate quantities of heavier stuff such as compost. I'm using it on a reasonable slope and still find it easy to control and move. It is pretty robust - I had doubts about a plastic barrow, but anything in steel or timber of this capacity would be impossibly heavy and it does feel as if it will stand up to a lot of wear and tear. Just make sure to keep it well away from bonfires! The caddy at the handle end is very useful for small hand tools. The tipping action is particularly impressive - as is the same position when used to "park" it - it occupies a lot less shed space this way. on the subject of sheds, if that's where you're planning to keep it, make sure the door is wide enough! if you have a lot of leaves or prunings to move on a regular basis this huge barrow will make your life a lot easier.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid and Very useful, But Needs Work, 22 Mar 2013

This cart is better built than I expected - thicker steel and better wheels. it is also a very useful size - big enough to accommodate all sorts of loads but small enough to be maneuverable. The lack of a brake doesn't seem to be a problem - I have used it on a hillside with no difficulty. Be aware that main body and wheels arrive in separate packages, in my case on different days.

There are some problems. Mine arrived with no assembly instructions - if this is the case with all, many people will probably have difficulty with assembly of the front axle. The nuts and bolts were of less than good quality and not enough washers were included for a good job on some of the joints. In every case tightening the bolts is a two spanner job . Hole alignment was poor, particularly on the diagonal supports for the rear axle; however, this can be made to work. Not all the wire clips designed to hold the sides on are tight enough - and difficult to tighten. The hinge alignment in the sides is not wonderful. This sounds like a lot of criticism, but in fairness I managed to get it assembled without actually replacing any parts and have so far found it to be a valuable tool.

If you are reasonably capable mechanically (or have a willing volunteer who is) then I can still recommend this cart - subject to the above caveats. If these were fixed I would definitely give it five stars.

Rebekah's songs have a depth and mystery to them, and when there is darkness it is only a deep velvet shadow shed by the brilliance of the light at the heart of each song. Witty and playful sometimes, the tone is ultimately optimistic, giving us a hand up from the whatever pit we may find ourselves languishing in and leading us dancing to the stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Support Farmers For Action and SOS Dairy by dowloading this great track, 18 Aug 2012
This review is from: The Sos Dairy Song (MP3 Download)
This is really good! (Don't know why I should be surprised.) I'd buy it even if it weren't supporting a good cause. It would have been easy to write something heartbreaking about this issue - our landscape and farmers lives are being destroyed by amoral big business - but this is upbeat, funny and danceable. With this anthem behind them, Farmers For Action will win in their campaign for a fair price for milk. Also, looking at the tragic rate of suicides amongst hard pressed dairy farmers, this song really could save lives.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm Proud of The BBC Too!, 1 Nov 2010
A great catchy tune. Clever witty lyrics. A clear message that so many of us agree with at a time when our beloved BBC is being threatened by billionaires and politicians. Buy it because it's a brilliant song, or because you support our BBC or, like me, for both reasons. Mitch is a cracking songwriter, performer and comic - do yourself a favour and discover him today.

Mine just failed in my smartphone and is totally inaccessible after only a few months service, meaning that I shall have to spend 12+ hours re-installing software (fortunately most data was backed up). A search for this card reveals that there seem to be a lot of people with problems - it is even discussed on SanDisk's own website forums. What do you do if "reliable brands aren't reliable? I have standard SD cards which have been in use for years (one had been through the wash a couple of times and another spent a night being run over out on a wet road and are still working. Improved reliability on these new cards please!

Kum Nye (pronounced "Koom Neeay") contains elements of yoga, meditation and massage and is rooted in the Tibetan tradition. My first introduction to Kum Nye was through this book; its clear, simple instructions and photos of postures and exercises makes it easy to learn the basics of Kum Nye and there is a surprising amount of detail. Kum Nye is now a part of my life thanks to this book.

As simply spectacular book of glowing images. Each one fills you with awe as you look at it. Perhaps someone needs to write a very detailed guide to each image to satisfy the desire to know what each of the intricate details is about.
