5.0 out of 5 stars A Confederacy Of Dunces meets Vernon God Little with bits of Kurt Vonnegut and Oscar Wilde thrown in, 9 Oct. 2015
This review is from: Muesli at Midnight (Hardcover)
This marvelous book, first published in 1993 I believe by Irish author Aidan Matthews and which I recently re-read has never had the kind of appreciation it has so much deserved for so long. The fact that you can get it on amazon for a few pennies is somewhat testament to its very disappointing status - notably so as it seems to be long out of print and without any other reviews.
The tale is both hilarious and touching and is a kind of coming of age novel - but where the age in question is the mid-twenties!
A Confederacy Of Dunces meets Vernon God Little with bits of Kurt Vonnegut and Oscar Wilde thrown in, this tome should be read by anyone with a taste for fine British literature of the kind that rarely gets written anymore.

5.0 out of 5 stars Check this collection out if you are any kind of Blues or SRV fan - you will not be disappointed!, 9 Oct. 2015
This 3 x Disc SRV set is a real blinder and another great title in what appears to be the now regular 'Transmission Impossible' series. These sets always feature 3 CDs containing a variety of radio broadcasts and they sell for little more than the price of a single disc. The packaging and artwork are always second to none, and the sound quality is pretty much on the money..A real nice change from so many badly produced and packaged broadcast CDs these days.
This Stevie set has the 3 broadcasts included which are listed in the title box ( and with more detailed info in the product description) , and all are magnificent quality. Extra specially good here is the 1986 New Years Eve gig from Atlanta, Georgia , when this legendary guitarist is veritably on fire! Check this collection out if you are any kind of Blues or SRV fan - you will not be disappointed!

5.0 out of 5 stars A recommended film for anyone interested in the legend.that is the Human Riff..., 9 Oct. 2015
This is a terrific DVD featuring as it does Mr Keef Richards in interview and in less forml conversation, but nevertheless chatting about just about everything under the sun, including some great insights into his true thoughts and feelings about Sir Mick - something that is the real highlight, but its all superb. A recommended film for anyone interested in the legend.that is the Human Riff...

5.0 out of 5 stars A delightful listen despite a couple of minor flaws, 28 Sept. 2015
This review is from: Backstage Pass (Audio CD)
I very much agree with my fellow reviewer here ( indeed it was that review which led me to purchase this CD) , and while I agree with everything said by Leslie there, I am awarding this 5 Stars as it is a delightful listen despite a couple of ( minor) flaws and personally I rank in above the other CD available from the same tour, which features David Crosby ( here)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Live-At-Boarding-House-McGuinn/dp/B00IRAX5RK/ref=sr_1_7?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1443445444&sr=1-7
- although that one is a fine item as well
The live gigs from this tour prove that while the MCH album suffered from some strange production methods the songs ( or at least a lot of them) were strong compositions and stripped down were real classics.
Very much recommended...

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fabulous Archive Reording, 11 Sept. 2015
This review is from: Sigma Sound Studio 1972 (Audio CD)
This is a fabulous recording from before the fist America album was released and has a number of cuts that never appeared on any of their records. This was the time when America were at their height and real competition for CSNY - excellent stuff.

A Most Wanted Man [DVD]
A Most Wanted Man [DVD]
Dvd ~ Philip Seymour Hoffman
Price: £3.00

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost as good as any film of Le Carre..., 9 Sept. 2015
This review is from: A Most Wanted Man [DVD] (DVD)
As is always the case with great writing, the movie doesn't compare to the intensity and sheer exuberance of Le Carr's novel, but with Philip Hoffman in the lead role it's as good as any film of JLC's work - save for the original TV version of Tinker Taylor. Worth watching a few times too as there's plenty of lower level content that's easy to miss on first view.
