5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Of One Of The Best, 4 Nov 2010
This review is from: A Collection (Audio CD)
Third Eye Blind. Best Of. Need I say more? Fine, Blinded. There. It's one song. It's awesome. It's worth the price of the CD alone. It's probably not even going to be your favorite, but that's the beauty of 3EB - they can't stop crafting amazing songs. THere are at least 12 songs on this that you'll wish you wrote. A great place to start with the band too. It's rock. Pure and simple.

5.0 out of 5 stars You will love Daphne Loves Derby, 4 Nov 2010
If you like This Providence, Postal Service, Death Cab for Cutie or The Get Up Kids, then these guys will blow you away. A sweet voiced guy, singing sweet songs over clean guitars, tight drums and a twangy bass. It's upbeat and it's beautiful. There's not much to tell between this and their other one - Good Night Witness Light - and they're both awesome. Remember if you like this, you'll love This Providence.

5.0 out of 5 stars A sweet little record, 4 Nov 2010
This review is from: Our Worlds Divorce (Audio CD)
This isn't a ferrari, this is a VW Polo. It's small, unassuming, and it will never let you down. It's such a sweet record, dripping in melody. It belongs to that niche carved out by 'Daphne Loves Darby,' namely, that of sweet voiced guys, singing even sweeter songs but never managing to seem cool. The drumming is tight, the guitars are mostly clean and the bass is that crisp, twangy, almost anti-bass. BE WARNED< If you do buy this album, Certain Words in Uncertain Times will never ever leave your head. Ever. It's perfect and infectious.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Punk-Rock Evolution, 4 Nov 2010
This review is from: Career Suicide (Audio CD)
Think of this as a concept album and try not to put the photography in the sleeve put you off. The sound is relentless, like lagwagon, but much more aggressive. These guys are about two steps from hardcore, but they're well produced and have retained a lot of melody and always find the room for a speed metal guitar solo. It sounds like Propagandhi's heavier moments - but if you've just read that and thought, 'who are propagandhi?' Then go and buy Propagandhi's Less Talk, More Rock and come back if you like it.

2.0 out of 5 stars In the Shadow of 'These Lights', 4 Nov 2010
I came across this band through an amazing song called 'These Lights' and though it remains one of my favourite songs of all time, it sticks out like a sore thumb in their repertoire. They've got a country swagger and are really atmospheric and some of the songs have grown on me, nonetheless, when you've heard 'These Lights' nothing else they've done could hold a candle to it, if you'll allow the pun. This album is the second of theirs that I've bought and it has grown on me, because I've given them a lot of time to do so. They've got three singers, an Adam Duritz type lead, a sweet voiced female bassist and a punk/screamo guitarist. They're an insanely endearing bunch of people and they're music drips melody without ever really hitting an highs. I like it, but it's an acquired taste. Proceed with caution and don't spend to much.

5.0 out of 5 stars Minnesota's Finest, 4 Nov 2010
This review is from: Collapser (Audio CD)
In the same year that Favre took the Vikings to the next level Minnesota gave us this. It is magnificent from start to finish. The sound isn't immediate and it'll be hard to pick a stand out track, but that's because they're all top drawer. Get it for yourself, get it for your friends.

Let It Enfold You/Still Searching
Let It Enfold You/Still Searching

5.0 out of 5 stars Let it enfold YOU!, 4 Nov 2010
Senses Fail are a good band without being a great band, but in Let It Enfold you they hit some heady heights. Still Searching is a grower, and a good solid album, but you'll be listening to Let It Enfold you for a long time to come. If you've never heard these guys, think lostprophets with more gusto and much darker lyrics. Amazing melody. Amazing drumming. Amazing sound.

Land Law: Themes and Perspectives
Land Law: Themes and Perspectives
by Susan Bright
Edition: Paperback
Price: £46.79

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally a Useful Law Book, 4 Nov 2010
Bright and Dewar have compiled some really useful essays which push the ideological boundaries of land law. I wish I'd had this as an undergrad to throw a few quotes into essays. It's almost impossible to say I'd pick up a law book and read it cover to cover, but this is different. The topics are all extremely interesting and they come from so many different approaches that there's something for everyone. If you're studying Land/Property Law and you want an edge, or want a more tangible understanding of substantive topics, then this is the way to go.

This is an album I bought on the strength of one song - Eulogy. That song remains awesome. The rest of the album is forgettable. If it's going cheap, Eulogy is worth a few euro, otherwise, just listen to it on youtube or the warped tour compilation I had it on.

3.0 out of 5 stars More Smoke than Fire, 4 Nov 2010
This review is from: This Sinking Ship (Audio CD)
I heard the single off of this ages ago and it's been on my wishlist ever since, so when I finally got it, I expected a lot. The single - The Patty Hearst Syndrome - sets the bar extremely high and the rest of the album fails to live up to it. There are a few more very good tracks, and no out and out filler. If you're getting it cheap, don't say no. It's well worth five/ten euro.
