Fantastic new series of books that I have read one immediately after the other! My only issue is we have to wait for book 6 - and that is so frustrating, lol. I have been spoilt by an author who can keep you as the reader through all five books and still leave you NEEDING the next one - a rare and frustrating gift Mr Cassidy. Absolutely recommend these book to anyone, but be warned - you will want more ;)

2.0 out of 5 stars Plodding along!, 30 Mar 2014

I bought this book on the basis of the Salem witch references and the recommendations for the dark fairy tales and A Discovery of Witches, and I'm hugely disappointed and misled! Sorry ,but a very strange way to sell a book that more resembles a plodding Sherlock Holmes novel with overtures to a sleeping draught. Nothing like I expected, no gripping story to enthral or mesmerize, no mystical or magical twists - just a bog standard thriller following the investigation into a murder victim with overtures to the Salem Witches - simply by name association. Really hard going, easy to pick up, put down and forget I'm afraid. Sorry, on it's own - readable but not outstanding. Most definitely disappointing because the reference leads to to believe it's something it clearly isn't.

This is a new writer for me and, Wow - blown away! I started with book one, turned the last page and went straight on and bought book two. So it went on to now reached book five - turn last page and......... gutted to find I have to wait for the next one!!! It's an interesting series, where you have a dark hero with a past you know nothing about - at all! That's unusual - usually there are snips or hints to follow but this writer doesn't seem to work like that. The characters are flawed and brilliant, so real that each one becomes real to you. There is no repetitive formula through the books - each tells a different part of their story - again, many recent series I have read got tedious when the story pattern gets repeated through each book - this is not a pattern used by Mr Cassidy at all, each book is a new part of the story. Need book six now please!! Will now go look for anything else he has written and see if that helps! :)

This was read in one go - love the depth of characters, the flow of the story is well paced, the ending suddenly appears and jolts you back to earth! I need to know what happens next, and disappointed to see I have a long wait for the next book!

1.0 out of 5 stars Hard going!, 11 Oct 2013

Worst book I've read in a long time! Sorry guys, but this was terrible! I've read another of this author's books 'Apartment 16' which was great and I really thought this would be as good after reading the synopsis. Unfortunately it is just really, really hard going! It really didn't hold any suspense for me and became a trial just to finish it. The characters were shallow and uninteresting - 4 old friends who go camping in a wood, get lost, start bickering, run into something creepy , and everything clearly goes pear shaped! From the middle of the book, I thought ok now maybe it'll get interesting, but nope turned into something like mad delirium - gone mad! Deleting this one straight away - so disappointed! :(

I have to admit i like daft/simple games and this one is brilliant! When i say simple, im not suggesting that its basic in anyway - but it is simple to understand and to follow. Choose a side, build a compound and an army then go into battle. You can play against others online in campaigns or follow a trail of challenges set for just yourself. Anyone can play it - young kids through to older adults - no gore or bad language so safe for little ones! I love it!

3.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining!, 7 Aug 2013

I really enjoyed the first book and immediately bought the second - despite the not so brilliant reviews. Now the first thing to address is the editing, in truth I was expecting some hideous, unreadable dialoge filled with missing words and mis matched sentences (going by the reviews) but honestly, I suspect this has been put right or at least addressed . Yes there are some spelling mistakes, but Dax never changed his name to Beau and I certainly didn't have any problems following sentences or structure. Only in one place did couple of paragraphs repeat themselves, so i am assuming that is where the new editing began. No big deal - quite early in the book and easy yo scroll over. So, why 3stars then? Not as fast paced as book one and far to much like the love triangle in Twilight for me I'm afraid. Lacked the imagination of the first book and what irked me most was the climax of the book (without giving it away) the girl is 16 has a harrowing experience but its all swept away without any real emotional response - gets straight on to politics of the hidden. Really??? Far to shallow and severely lacking any real interest in the character. So, interesting, easy read - will buy the 3rd book but sincerely hope for an improvement on this book. Giving it the benefit of the doubt only because the first book showed such promise.

Gritty read that keeps you absorbed! I really look forward to the next instalment. These three parts really grip you from the start. What begin s as a viral outbreak soon takes on a clever twist of imagination that really grabs you and leaves you wanting the next book. A definite recommend read from me!

I so enjoyed the first book in this series that i immediately went and bought the 2nd and unfortunately, this one left me rather uninterested in looking at the 3rd. Clare is so stubborn and races off at every opportunity to be the hero - at everyone else's expense. There are no great revelations as to who or what she is, and got a little tedious in the run into danger, get a butt kicking, escape only to do it all again in the next minute. A shame!

This book simplifies and resonate' s true love and spiritual healing. A well written book with many inspiring thoughts and messages; In many ways, it feels as though you are sat with Mark (as you would any good friend), and sharing thoughts over coffee! I found this to be a gentle but thought provoking book that opens your eyes to the world around us - not just spirit - but the one we all live in day by day, with it's ups and downs, happiness and sadness and how we connect with it as individuals. How we can make it a more positive and peaceful life experience is up to us. Really enjoyed reading this and look forward to more from this lovely and inspiring new author. Thank you Mark, for making my light shine a whole lot brighter xxx
