5.0 out of 5 stars Hahahahahah! Heheheheheheheh! Hohohohohoh! Funny!, 6 Dec 2003
This book is one of Spike's finest. It is hard to explain but somehow just his wording of things can leave you in fits of laughter. While it does contain strong language it is unlikely to offend people; the violence is so unlikely and incredible that it is not going to affect children.
I made the mistake of reading this book at school: my teacher got quite annoyed at frequent outbursts of laughter, sniggering and me reading bits aloud. If you are knew to Milligan, what kept you? If you are a veteran, this is one of his finest.
I must for anyone who appreciates his unique brand of humour.

The Road to McCarthy
The Road to McCarthy

5.0 out of 5 stars Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha!, 14 Aug 2003
This review is from: The Road to McCarthy (Hardcover)
This book, while it does not have the 'laugh-a-paragraph' quality of McCarthy's Bar, this is mainly because it actually has a point. I am not in any way putting down M.B., but THTM has included sympathy, empathy and frustration amongsth other emotions. If you are simply looking for a good laugh about some guy getting drunk, then this is not for you. If you are looking for a book matching the humour of McCarthy's debut, but including thoughts and feelings, then you will certainly rate this book as highly as I.
p.s. I recently saw Pete at my local theatre: a real treat. Not only is it fascinating to hear him reading his own work, but he lets you in n some other, occasionally unpublishable, gems.
5 star!

4.0 out of 5 stars Unbearable...Or is it?, 7 Sep 2002
This review is from: Unbearable [CD2] (Audio CD)
Unbearable, at least in my opinion, is probably the best wonderstuff song. And then the b-sides (Inside you,Hit by a car,Ten trenches deep,I am a monster and Frank) aren't bad either. Hit by a car and Frank are the best b-sides and they are also on Love Bites and Bruises. Just Brilliant
