Children of the Siege
Children of the Siege
by Pauline Cutting
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspirational book, 30 Jun 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Children of the Siege (Paperback)
A book that deserves to be known about and read more widely. Apart from the terrible events it describes, there is plenty of human endeavour and warmth, too. Pauline Cutting deserves to be much more acclaimed. It also gives background to contemporary events and goes some of the way to accounting for the militancy of some elements of the Palestinian struggle today. Thank goodness I was able to get hold of it via Amazon, having lent my original copy out years ago.

Like a richly detailed 3-dimensional multimedia map of the Middle East at the beginning of the twentieth century. I've read it twice and loved every second of it.

the format's changed, the music's still fantastic. Can't imagine life without the Stone Roses! I'd love to do a drive across the US with this playing on the way. I reckon that's what it was written for!

5.0 out of 5 stars Shocking, disturbing and powerful book, 30 Jun 2013

Tells of the horrors of the Libyan regime through a child's eyes. Well written and compelling. It's over a year now since I read it but some of the images of the neighbour's TV trial linger on. A powerful slice of reality.

Straight forward to assemble. Tucks away neatly under the desk. Well made and confortable. As long as you remember how to sit properly, it can help make sitting much less painful for lower backpain sufferers.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great to listen to alone, 30 Jun 2013

This review is from: Lhasa (Album Standart) (Audio CD)
I made the mistake of listening to this for the first time on a car journey with 2 other people and was initially disappointed. It needs more attention than that. Once you get to know each track, it's a joy to listen to. Lhasa's voice is rich, warm and lovely. Wonderful musicianship from her band.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not a duff track on it!, 30 Jun 2013

No need to fast forward past a track that isn't really good enough - every song's excellent and could stand as a single in its own right. On the strength of this, I can't wait to see Miles on tour in the autumn. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

5.0 out of 5 stars Pleasure shared ... with my own father, 4 Nov 2010
Doesn't matter who you support - or don't support! Genuinely fascinating social history of interest to all, not just football fans. Beautifully written. Excellent purchase - originally for myself and now as a gift for my own father. Highly recommended.
