Torres Brandy Jaime 1 70cl

4.0 out of 5 stars A deep, slightly sweet and strong flavour that retains a smoothness. Worth a try at around £60. Recommended, 10 July 2016

This review is from: Torres Brandy Jaime 1 70cl (Wine)
I normally drink Hennessy XO, but the Torres has a deeper, slightly sweeter and stronger flavour and still retains a smoothness. I think its a richly flavoured brandy for around £60 and worth a try. Recommended. The bottle and container make it a nicely presented package.

Drift Innovation Stealth 2 Weather Resistant Full HD 1080p Sports Action Camera with Wi-Fi, Mounts and Accessories - Black
Offered by PrimeScourInc
Price: £90.94

4.0 out of 5 stars A good quality, cheap, pocket-sized and effective action cam. recommended, 10 July 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The stealth 2 is a pocket sized and relatively cheap action cam with sufficient features and video quality to make it perfect for occasional use or as a secondary action-cam. A well made and handy piece of kit for the price. Recommended.

Pros
Pocket sized.
Good build quality.
water resistant (but not waterproof)
Good quality wide angle video
Like the way it deals with vibration. The video sort of wobbles (distorts) instead of shakes, which is much easier to watch.
Simple to use.
Cheapest quality helmet cam out there

Cons
No on-screen monitoring of playback
Battery only lasts about three hours (on 30fps at 1080)
No supplied hdmi cable

Fitbit Charge HR Heart Rate and Activity Wristband - Black, Large
Fitbit Charge HR Heart Rate and Activity Wristband - Black, Large
Offered by Matik
Price: £98.88

3.0 out of 5 stars It's ok and unobtrusive but the Vivosmart HR is a better. Limited recommendation, 10 July 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The Fitbit Charge HR is an 'OK' product as it has some really good features, but it also has as many significant issues making it a definite compromise product. For some the compromise may be acceptable and I am just about in that camp. But next time I would buy something else. If, like me, it is important to have a device that is free standing and doesn't look like a watch then it is worth considering, but in most respects the Vivosmart HR is better.

Pros
Simple to set up and use
Heart rate and distance are surprisingly accurate (within 5%) when compared to my Garmin 910XT gps sports watch with heart strap.
Very easy to use with a single button.
Independent of a phone and can store up to 30 days of data.
Watch function can be turned off.
Looks more like a bracelet than a watch. Which was important to me as I already wear a proper watch.
Battery life is good and it charges quickly.

Cons
Difficult to read in sunlight
Feels a bit cheap compared to Garmin vivosmart
Not waterproof. This is a major inconvenience.
Mottled band looks good but traps dirt and needs regular cleaning.
The strap is just about comfortable enough, but I am always aware that it's on my wrist because it either feels too tight, or too sticky or too heavy or too itchy.
All set up is through the app so no on the fly changes can be made.
Syncing a couple of days data to my Nexus 7 tablet can take several minutes.
Supporting App is basic. I find the graphic displays are basic and not that clear. Some of the data fields are not updated after syncing.
Very limited smart phone function, compared to a Vivosmart

3.0 out of 5 stars No better and more expensive than the standard notes markers. Not recommended, 5 July 2016
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
These tabs seem a bit over the top to me. The standard notes markers that are slightly larger are more useful and cheaper. Not recommended.

Pros
Neat packaging

Cons
Smaller than standard small note markers so less space to write on.
More expensive that the standard notes markers.
No easier to transport than the standard notes markers
The removal mechanism is just a level of complexity that may go wrong.
Unnecessary packaging in these days of waste.

Bona Wood Floor Cleaner Spray 2 1L Set
Bona Wood Floor Cleaner Spray 2 1L Set
Offered by Selectric London Limited
Price: £19.20

4.0 out of 5 stars Effective cleaner that is quick drying and leaves a residue free finish. Recommended, 4 July 2016
I use this as a quick cleaning solution for our lacquered oak floor. This is a very good cleaning product. It effectively removes the dirt, drys quickly and leaves a residue free finish. The Bona cleaner 1L bottle lasts many months due to the fine spray and it is far better than any wet wipe type cleaners I have tried. It isn't as good as the OSMO wash and care, which cleans more thoroughly and leaves a nice shine, However the OSMO cleaner takes a lot longer to apply and to dry. Recommended as a regular cleaner for wood floors.

It is best if you sweep or otherwise remove surface dust from the floor before using the Bona cleaner.

Trixie Pet Ramp, Black, 40 × 156 cm
Trixie Pet Ramp, Black, 40 × 156 cm
Price: £52.12

5.0 out of 5 stars Well made, easy to use ramp. Can't find any faults. Highly recommended., 21 Jun. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Excellent product for the price. The ramp is simple, sturdy, well made, light and easy to use. It took two days of familiarisation for our 32 kg retriever to use it in earnest. Highly recommended.

Pros
Well made of high grade plastics with an effective non slip surface.Looks like it'll last a long time.
Easy to use. Just folds in two and the design means that the ramp is highly stable when placed on the rear bumper.
Light, given its weight bearing capacity.
Good size. Easy to slip behind the front seats of our Skoda Yeti.

Cons
Nothing.

5.0 out of 5 stars A delightful and wonderful alternative presentation to transistor amps. If you love music then just buy it., 21 Jun. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Valves can make headphones come alive and for £130 this little beauty can make your cans sing in a way that transistor based amps at many times the cost fail to match. The sound from the Little Dot is not better than from transistors, but its beguilingly different and wonderfully musical. If you have never tried valves this is a great way to see just how good old technology can be. The highest recommendation I can give, just buy it.

Pros
Fantastic sound for pound. Subjectively I would say that it would be pretty tricky to get this level of musicality from a solid state headphone amp at anywhere near this price. So the Little Dot is a big bargain.

Sound Quality. You need top quality hi-fi headphones to get the best from this amp. You also need a lossless musical source. Yes MP3 does sound better, but that's relative as it's not great to start with. The Dot expands the space between your ears so each instrument and vocal has space around it. If you are used to transistor based amps this effect is startling. In general the presentation is more detailed and wonderfully sweet with an amazing sense of silence around each instrument and voice. With the Little Dot music seems to flow effortlessly and its an amazingly serene and relaxing experience; there is no fatigue, whatever the listening level. However this does not mean it is laid back because there is still real pace, drive and dynamics to the music. There is also a lovely tonal quality and naturalness to vocals and acoustic instruments that much more expensive solid state headphone amps fail to match. The results of all of this is that everything sounds, 'right'. The Achilles heel for valves is the bass end, but when driving headphones much of the problem disappears as it does in this case. So bass is deep and natural, however there is a small loss of definition and a slight bloom in the mid to low bass when compared to my Cute Beyond transistor headphone amp. However this small foible does not detract from the sheer musicality of the Little Dot. I also fed the output from the Little Dot into my Creative Gigaworks T40 speakers and the results were just as impressive. What was especially noticeable was the ability of the Dot to generate a three dimensional sound-stage between a pair of speakers sitting on my desk!

Plug and Play. If you read the manual or have previous experience of valve amps you may be concerned about microphonic effects, unmatched or faulty valves, or hum and interference. But I just plugged in the valves (should have cleaned the connectors but didn't have any contact cleaner) and off I went with no problems at all.

Build Quality. For a cheap piece of kit that requires a level of 'hand building', as all valve amps do the Little Dot looks good and is well made and a solid piece of kit. The volume control feels real quality and the gold plated RCA sockets are again solid and of good quality.

Tube Rolling. The Dot opens up a whole new world of purchasing different compatible valves, of which there are many. I have been an audiophile for forty years and my previous experiences are that different valves can make a major difference in the sound and this new world of experimentation is open to you with the Dot.

Looks cool when it's hot! There is something lovely at seeing the dot glow and actually being able to watch it make music.

Cons

Burn it time. This amp starts off sounding a little edgy and warm, but it's still got that great valve sound. It takes at least twenty hours before it starts to settle down and it then continues to improve for many hours after this. So just attach some headphones put some music on repeat and leave it. But remember to turn it off every eight hours or so.

Care and Attention. Tubes get hot, are made of glass and are delicate so they are not child or animal friendly. These amps are not made to keep switching on and off and need to be given a rest every eight hours or so.

Placement. You may find that isolating the amp from vibration from speakers will help its performance. I have placed my Speakers on Adam Hall Stands isolating foam and that dramatically reduces the vibrations going through my desk and into the amp.

Portability. Its not very portable. That's why I'm buying another one to connect to my main £30,000 hi-fi system.

Valves! Valves are less reliable and much more fragile than transistors and they occasionally blow, but they should last for 3000 to 4000 hours. You can still buy valves quite easily but you have to track down specialist suppliers. Valves for the little Dot are not that expensive and around £5 to £10 each.
