5.0 out of 5 stars One more single woman, 8 Jan. 2011
I bought this book as a present for a friend's daughter. At five years old she's perhaps a little young to read it herself but she can certainly understand it when it's read to her. I bought it because she wants to be a princess when she grows up and this book challenges the stereotypes of beauty and female submission. In this story the princess is the one who does the rescuing, and when the rescued prince rejects her because she's wearing only a paper bag - all her fine clothes having been burned by the dragon - she tells him where to get off.

I think it's a strong idea for young children and would heartily recommend it.

When I told a different friend about this book and that I had given it to a five year old, she commented, "Well done, you've just created another single woman in the world!"

Which I thought was funny!
