Doesn't do the subject justice, 2 May 2013
I was really looking forward to this book as I felt it was a subject with great potential. Unfortunately the author fails to deliver what should be a riveting account in terms of history and business lessons of the shipping giant.
It feels like the story was compiled using anecdotal tales rather than the extensive company archive which he claims he had access to. The chapter detailing it's demise and extinction is way too brief.
All in all disappointing. I would love to see a master writer like Ron Chernow pen a decent company biography on what is a very interesting topic.
