Recommended, even if you're not a baseball fan (which I am not). Joe DiMaggios life was completly different that the vast majority of the Americans who idolised him. This book describes how he lived that life, from being a poor fishermans son to becoming arguably the most famous American of the 30's and 40's and beyond. His womanising and penny pinching are well described, most importantly it shows how shallow the man actually was. The American public loved him and he took it with nothing to give in return.
