4.0 out of 5 stars An absolute bargain for the price!, 12 Jun. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I originally got these headphones just for the spare earbuds; I'm quite happy with either the medium sized ones or the large ones, and found that the original replacements cost about the same as these headphones did; so decided it would be better to have an extra set with spare earbuds that I could use.

I used a two way headphone splitter, and plugged in my more expensive Sony MDR-EX500LP with Multi Layer Diaphragm (for High Resolution Sound) headphones, to get a side by side comparison. To my surprise (and a little bit of horror), these headphones sounded fairly similar. It even has a little raised dot to help you identify the right from left buds without having to look at them (ideal in the dark or in a hurry).

The major differences between this set and a more expensive pair, is the little extras; this only comes with a standard 1.2m cord and three ear buds (Small, Medium and Large). The more expensive sets may include a 0.5m main set with a 1m extension cord to allow you to choose the length you need, or headphone pouches, stuff like that. Also, the cord is pretty ugly... it's the "old" style of two cords moulded together, rather than the single cable.

If you can live with the basic looks and lack of little extras, these are a seriously good investment for the quality you're getting. They really do sound almost as good as headphones that I have that are five times the price. If you want something a little more aesthetically pleasing, you'd be well within your right to pay a little bit extra.

Transparent Japanese Premium
Transparent Japanese Premium

4.0 out of 5 stars Superb to learn using a PC, but would benefit from printable material, 13 April 2011
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I have really enjoyed learning Japanese; my main reason was because I quite enjoy anime/manga and wanted to be able to watch it in the original dubbing, as well as wanting to be able to converse with some of my Japanese customers more effectively.

The best things about the product is ease of use and ability to use an MP3 compatible product, such as a mobile phone, to learn on the go.

The one thing I wish had been added was a booklet or printable material to go with the MP3 side of things, as I feel this helps absorb phrases and words better.

Otherwise, a brilliant product, worth the outlay.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great product, but not too sure about the smell., 13 April 2011
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
These are great wipes, strong, and can clean any mess up really well.

These wipes do have a slight smell to them (not unpleasant), which is possibly due to the marigold (Calendula Officinalis) extract in them.

These packs have 70 wipes (so work out at 3 pence per wipe), compared to huggies/pampers 63 odd (2 pence per wipe), so per wipe cost about 50% more. However, these wipes are biodegradable as is the packaging, meaning a better legacy for my daughter when she grows up.

So, all in all, a great product, if not a little on the pricey side.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great product, but not too sure about the smell., 13 April 2011
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
These wipes are really good for sensitive skin; made from natural products, eco friendly and clean really well.

However, as others have mentioned, they do have an odd smell to them. For this reason alone, I have marked the wipes four stars.

Bearing in mind that huggies/pampers packs have only 62/63 wipes in them, the cost for comparison becomes 2 pence per wipe for those brands, and 3 pence per wipe for these eco wipes.

The packaging is biodegradable too, but I would be interested to know how long it takes to disintigrate.

Overall, not bad, if not a little pricey.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely kit to learn numbers, words and colours!, 13 April 2011
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I got this for my 19 month old daughter, who has started learning colours and has been able to repeat the numbers one to ten in order, but not really to count.

This box includes some blocks that are colour co-ordinated; one block has a picture of a number of items, such as ice cream cones, and the corresponding block has the number of items in numerical form. So, for instance, one of the black blocks has the number 10 on it, the other has a picture of ten stars.

In this way we could say "which one has stars on it?", leading to "what colour is it?", and "Can you count how many stars"; She has started to match colours, count the items out and say what the items are.

It really is an educational and fun product, helps me spend some quality time with my daughter and have fun whilst she learns.

Here on Earth: A New Beginning
Here on Earth: A New Beginning
by Tim Flannery
Edition: Paperback

4.0 out of 5 stars Insightful, yet lacking a conclusive ending., 22 Feb. 2011
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This book gives an interesting perspective of the planet earth and our place in it.

The author describes the Earth ("Gaia") as akin to a living being; made up of many different structures and organs, capable (to an extent) of regeneration and self-repair. I totally respect his views on it, even if I don't 100% agree with them. He also seeks to balance the holistic approach of Science in general with the darwinistic approach; survival of the fittest against the good of the whole.

In many ways, Tim Flannery does address many of the issues which plague us now; when we throw things away, there is no "away" in reality - we're simply putting it back into the Earth, where it will sit and pollute the planet itself. Nothing groundbreaking there, but he does talk about how as a society we are just realising this, and how we need to think in a different way.

There was also a wealth of information in this book which I particularly liked; such as the fact that "survival of the fittest" was not actually Darwin's own phrase, but one he adopted from Herbert Spencer.

The big let down is that although I did learn to see the Earth in a different light after reading the book, I feel no closer to being able to find an answer to where we go next to prevent the eco-system catostrophic failure, as it seems to be heading towards.

So, whilst I learnt a lot from Tim Flannery, the book does lose a star for not being able to turn the wealth of information into the new beginning that the book draws it's title from.

4.0 out of 5 stars Superb sound quality, stylish, but possibly a bit small., 22 Feb. 2011
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
These headphones sound seriously nice when listened to, sounding quite balanced across the sound range. Bass sounds clear and the treble and mid-range sound good too.

I generally listen to metal music, however, I allowed a friend of mine to borrow these (who listens to R&B and pop etc) who commented that whatever he listened to sounded pretty good, and compared to some of the more expensive headphones he has used.

The only downside with these headphones is that they do seem to be a little small, in terms of the headband. This did get better with regular use, but I still find these headphones a little bit tight around the top of the head for me. These were perfect for my wife however, who has a smaller head.

If it wasn't for the size issues, I would definately give these 'phones a five star rating.

Sennheiser PC 300 G4ME In-Ear Headset
Sennheiser PC 300 G4ME In-Ear Headset

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth it if you game a lot, especially FPS games!, 25 Jan. 2011
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I found these headphones to be perfect for playing games online on my PC; the in-ear buds did a brilliant job of cancelling outside noise and have a good range and the microphone was a comfortable distance away from your face, as opposed to on an arm-attachment across your face.

The cable is 1m long, and comes with two 3.5mm plugs, one green (audio in) and one pink (microphone out). There is also an in-line sliding volume control, which I found useful for adjusting the volume during gameplay, for example, when I was listening out for the doorbell.

The sound quality for the headphones is superb; the top end of range is a little bit lacking, but can easily be adjusted using the graphic equaliser on the soundcard settings. The bass sounds and mid-range are excellent, and you'll definately jump out of your seat when the action hots up, for example, explosions.

As for the microphone, it picks up your voice well without too much interference from outside sources.

These work well as stand-alone headphones too, but if that is all you're using them for, there are better (dedicated) headphones for the same price.

Bearing in mind you won't need any batteries for this (as they're wired), and you get a built in microphone, these are a perfect set for gaming.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant multi format media player!, 24 Jan. 2011
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
What I love about the Q3, apart from the amazing sound quality, is its ability to play multiple formats; it plays (audio) MP3, WMA, FLAC, OGG, AAC, WAV as well as (video) WMV9, MPEG4, XviD, DivX, H.264. This really does set it apart from some of its similarly priced competition, and at 8Gb for this model, is excellent value for money.

The box includes a micro-USB cable, a quick start guide and a voucher to download 50 free songs and an ebook (although you need to use a debit/credit card to sign up for the 14 day trial, which would need to be cancelled before the 14 days is up to avoid being charged).

The included headphones are pretty good for default headphones, and come with two sizes of buds. The ones already fitted on the 'phones were perfect for me, but a smaller set were included too. I compared these with my sennheiser CX-300s and the sound quality was comparable, which is pretty good in my opinion. The manual and Kies software are included on the player's memory, but to be fairly honest this player is easy to use without instructions and you can simply drag/drop files as needed without the use of additional software.

The SoundAlive system works well, but it does affect battery life. The graphics equaliser function is easy to use, and useful to get the sound to exactly how you want it.

Video files are easy to watch, generally not needing to be recoded. The screen is small, and although this isn't a problem for watching programs such as The Simpsons and Family Guy, I wouldn't suggest using it to watch films etc.

Build quality is good too, with a solid aluminium frame that feels good in your hand. The tactile controls take a little getting used to, but are easy to use otherwise. The only slight niggle I have with them is that there isn't a seperate sliding "hold" button; the bottom outer button is used on the tactile pad, press down to lock/unlock and hold to turn on/off. This button does accidently get pressed whilst in my pocket, but rarely, so I can just about live with it.

Battery life seemed to be about 32 hours without using SoundAlive and 20 or so with.

All in all, I would have to say that this is a well made media player (not just mp3 player!) which I would have no problems in recommending either for yourself or as a gift.

Norton Internet Security 2011, 3 Computers, 1 Year Subscription (PC)
Norton Internet Security 2011, 3 Computers, 1 Year Subscription (PC)

5.0 out of 5 stars Another superb product from the market leaders, 16 Dec. 2010
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Norton have established themselves as one of the market leaders in Security software; and this release shows why.

It is quick and easy to install, taking only a few minutes at the most and a system reboot. The new version seems to run smoother and quicker as well as adding some new functions.

Whilst including much from the 2010 release (such as Identity Safe, which acts as an auto username-password filler and safe searching), new functionality is added, such as monitoring the Facebook site; you also get an option to install Norton Power Eraser, for malware that is harder to remove.

I have used other antivirus/security software (such as Bullguard) - and to be honest, NIS does stand out from the crowd. Easy to install and use, as well as the fact that you are able to install it onto 3 PCs/laptops within your home, I can highly recommend getting the 2011 release.
