5.0 out of 5 stars superb brown sugar for the ears, 16 Mar 2006
This review is from: Meds (Audio CD)
If you love placebo you must buy this album! I was absolutely blown away buy it. It's got to be the best record I've heard in a very long time. 'Meds' the hypnotic opener grabs you by the curlies and hauls you into this fabulous carnival of human complexity. I'm not talking about adolescent angst here,. 'Sex and drugs and complications.' This is so much better than swg.

3.0 out of 5 stars i love Transylvania too!, 6 Mar 2006
A sensationalist book indeed. If you're interested in black metal and its culture than get it. It does tend to waffle on a little at times and lose the plot; probing too deeply into the anus of norse mythology. But there are some interesting pictures, interviews and facts. I did skip a few of the boring parts at times. Varg what a charming, cheeky Viking chap! Bye for now I'm off to Valhalla for tea.

4.0 out of 5 stars Inside the brain of Bill! It aint pretty!! But it is great!, 9 Feb 2006
For all of you that like pretty cultivated stories with a beginning, middle, and end, dont bother with this book. This is a tempestuous voyage into the ravaged mind of a heroin addict who used for over twenty years so don't expect any structure. I love his superb use of language, and, despite its subject matter, can be beautifully poetic at times; just downright bleak at others. Black, brilliant and bizarre, that's Bill for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars By moonlight entwined, 30 Jan 2006
Intensely atmospheric work. You can actually hear what's being said, unlike a lot of run of the mill conventional black metal bands who think they're really 'evil' by shrieking nonsensically. I think what heightens the spooky ambience is the fact that Eyronymous was murdered before its release; thus injecting an almost mythical quality to the album. A lot of people dislike the vocalists delivery on this record, but I beg to differ. I think it adds character. Indeed it is theatrical at times as he recites incantations but that's what the genre is all about. Creatures of the night what sweet music they make.

5.0 out of 5 stars Your mother sucks cakes in Hull.....actually!, 5 Oct 2005
This review is from: The Exorcist (Paperback)
This is an absolutely legendary book. Apparently it's loosely based on a true story of demonic possession - which makes it all the more sinister. I first read the Exorcist when I was a 14 year old schoolgirl, subsequently failing to get any shut-eye for about two weeks. Yes I was scared! and possibly scarred? I was prompted to its pages of pea green puke after having heard so many 'horror' stories. My parents used to talk about how the film was banned in the '70s and caused utter outrage. So read it now! you won't be afraid......much.

4.0 out of 5 stars frank n fantastic, 10 Aug 2005
This review is from: Rocky Horror Scrapbook (Paperback)
A quirky, stylishly put together scrapbook full of great pictures and interesting articles esp. of the gorgeous Frank n Furter - the sweetest transvestite to ever grace the planet. My only criticism is that maybe the book could have been a little thicker. It would have been nice to have seen some photos in colour because Rocky Horror is such a lavish production. Nevertheless this is a classy item for any Rocky admirer.

You must own this! A delightful, decadent display of bizarre, beautiful, transylvanian wackiness! Weird and wonderful. I guarantee you will become completely mesmerised by the sweetest transvestite in town - the delicious Dr Frank n Furter. He will lure you (you lucky things) further into the realms of pleasure with every pout, pucker, and fishnetted strut! All in all compelling entertainment and damn fine fun!!!!!!!!!
