4.0 out of 5 stars It's a grower., 1 Sep 2002
This review is from: By the Way (Audio CD)
i have to admit, when i got this album, i didnt think it could touch californication, however, this album has grown on me. the album opens with the familiar song "by the way" which is about as funky as the album gets (other then "cant stop" and the funky outbursts in "minor thing"). then "universally speaking kicks in, this is probably one of my least favourite tracks, its a bit to mellow and not really a standout track. "this is the place" is more like it! this is a stand out track and has possibly the best surging chorus of all the songs on here."The Zephyr Song" is my least favourite track, its just awful, it starts like a normal chilis song, bass line, good guitars, and then theres a total change in direction for the chorus, to this terrible "fly away on my zephyr...."
midnight is a great song, it has a great sing along chorus and superb solo, really is one of my favourite tracks.
"throw away your television" is a great song, flea's bass line is immense, and the chorus is another one of those sing along moments. this is another favourite.
cabron, this is the most out of place song on this record, not to say its not good, it is. its just very spanish! spanish guitars and cabron means "bast**d" in spanish.
the final track is venice queen, this is superb, like 2 songs glued together at the seams, the begging guitar is superb, john frushanti really works his magic (he is superb on this album). its a great close to a great album. however, dont expect to really like it upon first listen. songs to avoid: "i would die for you", "the zephry song" and "universally speaking". songs to play: "by the way", "this is the place" ,"throw away your television", "midnight" and "venice queen" but really 90% of this album is superb!

2.0 out of 5 stars Never buy an album on the basis of one track!!, 16 April 2002
This review is from: Hi-Fi Serious (Audio CD)
the title says it all, nothing is a great song, truly brilliant, however the rest of the album is somewhat dull, repetative and laborius. somethings going on is a great song, but the rest are not as good, such as WDYCAI which is the worst track on here along with the terrible starbucks. best avoided.

5.0 out of 5 stars smells like a great album!!, 18 Mar 2001
This review is from: Nevermind (Audio CD)
this album has one of the best collections of songs on that i have ever heard.as soon as you hear the into to "smells like teen spirit" you know exactly what particular vein the rest of the album is going to be in. this album truly is a work of art and is proberly one of the greatest ever as it represents so many sides to cobaines persona. the songs range from the hard rock of "breed" and "smells like teen spirit", to the melow yet exquisite "polly" and "something in the way". this album is a must have for all music fans..... this is an album that has to be owned by everyone that appreciates excellent music.

4.0 out of 5 stars some good songs = pretty good album, 11 Mar 2001
This review is from: Significant Other (Audio CD)
this album does include some really fantastic songs. for example the heavy rock of "break stuff", the emotional tale of "No sex" and there comic value of "Nookie". the album combines many diffrent aspect from the limp bizkit wardrobe. some songs just go for the hard core punk style where others go for a much more controled laid back sound which is another aspect of there distinctive style. the album is riddled with hidden extras aswell which either link songs or are just down right ridiculous! my favourite track though has to be "just like this". it kick starts the album and gets your expectation levels high for the rest of the album. however most songs do contain alot of bad languege which is unnecersary so play at a low voluume!!!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars a fair game which is good for those long journies!!, 27 Feb 2001
This review is from: Hexcite (GBC) (Video Game)
this game is very stratigically baseds. it takes time to master it and once that is done nothing will stop you. it kind of has a tetris feel to the game so if you were addicted to that then this will be ideal. its highly addictive and the gameplay will last for at least a couple of days!

1.0 out of 5 stars leave the money in the pocket with this one!, 18 Feb 2001
This review is from: Spider-Man (Video Game)
i bought this game with high expectations, but my hopes were dashed considerably when i inserted it in to my gameboy!! the levels on this game have no real structure which makes it hard to know what is going on and the fact you can just swing about with the web that he makes allday doesent really appeal to me.although the graphics are nice, the gameplay is slightly confusing and i frankly wish i had never bothered!!
