5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent in everyway, 4 Aug 2014

Great story, graphics, sound and controls. The atmosphere can be really tense and you'll jump more than once! Sneaking around pitch black derelict buildings in the dead of night with only a handful of bullets, knife and brick to defend yourself causes you to tighten your grip on the controller. Some really nice touches like shaking your controller when the batteries of your torch to start to die is really cool. Even the on/off click of the torch is now through the controller speaker which makes it feel like you're really hold a torch to look for zombies (or the infected..?) Its one of those games that you find yourself saying, 'i'll just do the next bit' even when its 2 o'clock in the morning! Simple inventory system that allows you to construct simple but improved weapons with items you collect on your voyage and believe me - it is a voyage! Some of the sections of the game are truely unforgetable and rank up there with the best Skyrim/Fallout 3 etc has to offer.
I had this on the PS3 and loved it and ive just started my PS4 adventure. Looking forward to playing it late at night with the headphones (for added pant filling atmosphere lol) in glorious 60/1080 on the most powerful games machine ever built........oh yes, this is for the players and probably should have been the release title (but obviously timing was off).

3.0 out of 5 stars Its a good enough game and very challenging, 7 July 2014
This review is from: Sniper Elite 3 (PS4) (Video Game)
Its a good enough game and very challenging. Set aside an hour per mission though as it'll take a while! Maybe its just me though, but the graphics dont blow me away - in fact its only a slight upgrade on Sniper 2 on the PS3. Its seems a bit cartoonish and the only thing thats really changed from the previous game is the theatre of war. Africa's nice. Nice sunshine effects. Nice touches here and there but like so many games now there really isnt the wow factor that i expected. My main gripe is that when you choose (or maybe accidentally) go loud and attract four or five soldiers to check out your vicinity, you just run away approx. 50m and hide for a second then the soldiers go about their business and completely forget that you just shot one of their buddies 30 seconds ago. Sorry but thats just stupid. I know games are limited in the AI aspect but its like Splinter Cell games etc where they all suffer from extreme amnesia. Its 2014 and games still suffer from problems that arose 20 years ago! Developers seem to be churning out same old stuff and we're expected to pay even more. Apart from the odd classic (Modern Warfare - the original, Fallout 3, Skyrim, Last of Us) most games seem to be........more of the same.

3.0 out of 5 stars This is more like a 3 and half rating but im giving it ..., 7 July 2014
This review is from: EA Sports UFC (PS4) (Video Game)
Bit of background - Im a longtime UFC & Pride fan so I know my onions. (and thats not a cheap shot at Tito or Ken Shamrock btw). Gained black belt in the game (after many humilating defeats which i'll blame game mechanics for hee he.) Played through the career etc. and a fair few fights online.
So.........
This is more like a 3 and half rating but im giving it 4 due to the graphics which are excellent. Occassionally you think you're watching the real thing! But this is, sad to say, a typical EA Sports game. I'll explain......The last UFC game I bought was back in 2010 which was great fun against friends but not so much online due to occasional lag (not mine as im on fibre optic) which completely ruins fight games (much like football games) and the single player was fairly ordinary and more like a slog to get through. Anyway, 4 years later and its the same game on a next gen system apart from the aforementioned graphics. Thats crazy!! EA Sports churn out an 'updated' game every single year, covering mostly american sports plus Tiger Woods and Fifa. They update the odd character here and the odd name there and then add one 'amazing' new gimic which will revolutionize the game genre forever - rubbish. They're making an absolute fortune changing very little, on every platform, annually! Thats my EA rant over and as you can appreiciate, I dont buy EA very often.
Back to the game. To be honest, its nearly very good but you have to be methodical and very precise to get anything done and thats not easy and leaves you very frustrated because it feels like your fighter hasnt responded to your commands. Striking's ok and the main thing is your range to cause any real damage. Mashing on the buttons will just get you knocked out. Clinches and ground work can be very frustrating and should be a lot simpler. There's clearly issues with the game when one bloke I saw had over 700 fight wins and less than 5 loses! Maybe he was the bloke that 'superman punched' me about 20 times in row around the ring while I fully blocked EVERY SINGLE ONE which means i take ABSOLUTELY NO DAMAGE, expecting his stamina to drop enough for me to deal a killer sucker punch. I glanced at his stamina bar after the 20th punch landed in my fully blocked face and his stamina hadnt dropped ONE BIT. I was so surprised at this and so bored of his antics that I dropped guard to try and kick his head off and got knocked out with, you guessed it, the 21st superman punch. Pleeeeeeeeeease EA. If Jonny 'Bones' Jones did 21 superman punches in a row I reckon he'd have to lie down and have a wee nap.
Its ok for fun occassionally but dont take it seriously or you'll end up punching your own tv or arm barring you're expensive PS4 controller...........or maybe your pet.
Yeah, in hindsight, its actually a 3 star game............

5.0 out of 5 stars Probably the best programme on television, 7 July 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Immense. Probably the best programme on television. Only Breaking Bad, Dexter and the Soprano's get near this and I thought those juggernauts would never be topped! This series is so dark and slick, beautifully directed and brilliantly acted that you'll end up with a little smile on your face at the end of every episode and here's the proof regarding just how good every single epsiode is.
Instead of rushing to watch the next (as you would with Breaking Bad) you'll actually think to yourself - no, i'll wait a few days and watch the next one because you'll actually want to savour this - just like one of Hannibal's fine wines after a 'feast'........he hee.

3.0 out of 5 stars You might be hacked off, 20 Jun 2014
This review is from: Watch Dogs (PS4) (Video Game)
Another game hyped. Its ok at best. Graphics are fine, nice even in parts but it wont blow you away. Its basically GTA/Infamous but you use hacking abilities instead of superpowers. The movement feels awkward and the driving is an issue. The sound effects of the cars sound like a zx spectrum has reappeared into your life! Some of the drug induced side games are just plain weird and not good at all. GTA V has the same outer world experiences but at least they are amusing and add to the game. If you want to spend big money (and lets face it games are ridiculous in price now but we've all grown to accept it!) then go right ahead - but GTA V will more than cover your thirst for violence in a free roam city........

4.0 out of 5 stars Dont believe the hype, 9 Jun 2014
created by these reviews. Its not amazing or the best thing ever. I love programmes like this (ie. Hannibal etc) and this is the darkest of the dark in this genre that ive seen. It is however very good and definitely worth watching but it does drag and the story is a little disjointed at times. This is not easy viewing by any means in that you have to concentrate on every scene and listen carefully as the story unfolds. It leaves you feeling cold and its pretty depressing to be honest - but maybe thats the whole point of a detectives life? I just prefer to be entertained and left with a smile on my face (ie. Fargo, Dexter, Breaking Bad). Matthew McConaughey is excellent in this however.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just perfect, 4 Jun 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Buy it, watch it and you'll never regret it. This series is probably the best as things are moving towards the conclusion and you'll be totally gripped. The only reason the very last season isnt quiet as good as Season 5 is because it ends!! Breaking Bad could have went on for 10 seasons and everyone would have been delighted as everyone seems to love Breaking Bad and for good reason. Its the most perfectly paced show ive ever seen. Every single character is interesting and has real depth with some performances as good as if not better than the best actors you've ever seen. Its so good you'll feel like you're a voyeur of the real lives of people who seem to be slipping further and further down the spiral rather than just watching a tv show. You could very happily spend a entire evening watching this show back to back because nothing beats this. To give you some examples, im a fan of Lost (first 2 seasons only!), Sopranos (i thought nothing would top it), Hannibal (incredible series so far.........), Dexter and films such as Heat, Goodfella's etc. so I know my american dramas/thrillers. This has raised the bar and its a testament to the current standard of British TV that it was never picked up and shown (I believe Channel 5 showed the first couple of series then it was dropped years ago?). BBC/ITV would rather show 'more' cookery, DIY, house buying programmes...........Do yourself a favour and buy the best programme ever made.

Im only using the smallest dimpled caps on the right hand sticks of my DS4's as this is the 'aiming' stick for shooters - provides better grip and speed. The caps just slip over your originals nice and tight and its such a great selection, you can mix and match and find a combo that works for you. Recommended for the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars If only......., 15 May 2014
This review is from: Trials Fusion (PS4) (Video Game)
I could bunny hop. I played this on the 360 years ago and its still as fun and addictive. Obviously this latest PS4 is the best looking and most enjoyable version. Its seriously addictive and hours will drift by without you even noticing - the sign of a quality game.
Ive only given it 4 stars because while its great fun i personally think the difficult curve is too steep. The first 75% of tracks are great and you can gold everyone of them (with a few repeated efforts - all part of the fun) but then the last few tracks are near impossible unless you can bunnyhop perfectly. Maybe its just me but it would be perfect if the last few tracks didnt have jumps and sections that are freakishly hard. Definitely worth the money though.

2.0 out of 5 stars Love Candy but....., 3 Feb 2014

This film is so old that its awful. I dont know what aspect ratio it is but both sides of your tv will be blacked out reducing your screen size to nearly half normal size. I still gave the film a chance despite that hoping for similar action to 'Trains, Planes and Automobiles' - there isnt any. John Candy is playing the straight character is this film who ends up the butt of Dan Aykroyds showing off. Aykroyd is playing this super cocky, super rich bloke that only wants the biggest and very best - to be honest he's really irriatating in this film - serious over acting and constant cheese. Hes was brilliant in Dragnet and other films but this is like his first attempt in a comedy (i dunno.........). The funny bits arent that funny and i was left pretty bored and disappointed. Could have been a far better comedy if cast properly. Avoid. Just buy Planes, Trains .........on bluray instead!
