Forbidden Ground [DVD]
Forbidden Ground [DVD]
Dvd ~ Tim Pocock
Price: 4.00

3.0 out of 5 stars Realism spot on.....Acting atrocious!, 30 May 2014
This review is from: Forbidden Ground [DVD] (DVD)
Trench scenes, squalor, mud and and gore; all very authentic. Story quite gripping at times, with a cat and mouse theme interrupted with very realistic battle scenes. However, the acting is truly woeful, as is the script and fake accents. Worth watching purely for the realism of the western front.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bittersweet, 29 May 2014
This review is from: Derek - Series 2 [DVD] (DVD)
Much more emotional than the first series, which was excellent. I thought this series would falter a bit with the leaving of the excellent Dougie (Karl Pilkington) but it actually gets better.

Very moving in places and hilarious in others. Kerri Goldiman is superb again. Holly Dempsey gets a wider role and fills it perfectly and David Earl as the slobbish Kev is fantastic.
Ricky Gervais brings the character of Derek to life in a way that the entire programme looks like a real life documentary. Superb acting all round.
Brilliant tv. Can't wait for series 3.

Bought this to treat a cobbled area of a war memorial. Tried it 3 times now and has had no effect whatsoever on the moss. Get a good stiff brush and some elbow grease and save yourself a few quid

Some nice, some awful, none last very long. Pretty disappointing to be honest, the ones in Asda look identical, but last far longer.

Ive never once failed to get a fire going with one of these, regardless of weather. They give a good spark and last ages. Can't be robbed at this price

4.0 out of 5 stars Not nearly as bad as they say....., 26 Jan 2014
This review is from: Colony [DVD] (DVD)
Can't really understand the bad ratings for this one. Its along the lines of 30 Days of Night and is well worth a night in! Some spectacular and stark scenery, tense in places and pretty scary at times.
Ending is a bit abrupt, some acting isn't that eye catching, but its a good film that deserves a bit better than the ratings to date.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Walking Dead no longer walk......, 20 Jan 2014
This review is from: World War Z [DVD] (DVD)
Fantastic action packed movie that gets into gear within minutes. Amazing special effects and good story line.
One or two points that don't add up, but overall this is great entertainment, gripping in places and fast paced.

4.0 out of 5 stars Harrowing Balkans Thriller, 18 Jan 2014
This review is from: The Seasoning House [DVD] (DVD)
I didn't much enjoy this, largely due to content, but it is very well made, superbly acted and gripping in places.
It starts slowly and seems as though it will never really get going, other that to concentrate on the brutality inflicted on young girls.

Once the plot thickens, the horror is extreme and the tension is knife edge.
The violence and associated scenes are sickening and it is not a film Id watch again. That said, its an excellent British effort on a low budget. For those who tolerate graphic violence, coupled with a believable story, this is a fine example.

Defender - Mole Claw Trap

5.0 out of 5 stars Bad name a myth!, 9 Jan 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Im a cemetery caretaker with 3-4 cemeteries to look after and maintain throughout the year. All have mole activity but one in particular had become a huge problem. My employers asked me to get rid of the moles and as it was something Id never done, I read up on it, researched methods, traps and took advice.

My intention was to to catch the moles and cause as little suffering as possible.
I looked at various traps and paid special attention to the defender, largely because of its poor write up by the 'experts.'

I bought 4 of these and whilst they are not my only traps, they have proved 100% successful. Set correctly and with correct preparation, these traps will do what they are supposed to do.

I will be purchasing more.

Following on from Barton Hollow was never going to be easy, because it was such a faultless album. This is well worthy of playing, but it is no where near as raw and pure as the first. Joy Williams takes over much of the vocals, which is a shame because they are both fantastic and compliment each other far better when they share.
Barton Hollow stands out way above anything of its kind, this second album is somewhere around the top of the rest, but just goes to prove how unique their first album was!
