4.0 out of 5 stars Usual top guide from the guys at VQ, 22 Aug 2005
This is a good simple guide to get you up and running using Macromedia's Captivate.
I have always been impressed with the Visual Quickstart guides and this one is no exception. Sure it doesn't go into micro detail but it does give you a quick blast of knowledge to get you started using the application. For those people that haven't got the time or patience to read a 300 page tome this book is ideal.

Core CSS: Cascading Style Sheets

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent reference, 22 Aug 2005
This book is not a tutorial book and certainly not a beginners book to help you learn CSS from scratch. What it is, is a well written in depth reference book. Yes you can get CSS glossaries on the internet but this book not only explains each style but shows you how it is used in HTML.
I thoroughly recommend this book if you already know CSS and need a reference to remind you of certain style uses.
This book is always on my desk when I'm working!

1.0 out of 5 stars If I could give it minus stars I would, 2 Jun 2005
I would seriously advise against purchasing this product. It is disgraceful that a company like 3Com could release such a faulty product.
Ever since purchasing this product i have had nothing but trouble with disconnections and crashes. The support has been awful and in the end I have decided to bin it and bought something else instead.
If you like the challenge of constant reboots, firmware upgrades/downgrades, and config edits then please go ahead and get this, but on the other hand if you just want something that you can plug in follow a simple wizard and then use with no problems - then stay the hell away.

5.0 out of 5 stars A truly exceptional printer, 21 Sep 2004
After much research I decided to get the Epson R300 with the extra colour viewing screen. I have to say after a week of some intensive testing I am extrememly impressed by the results. Initially i tested printing full A4 borderless photos directly from a media card and the results were stunning. One print took about 40 seconds and the colours and details were outstanding. I then tried printing a series of 6x4 photos using the images stored on my Microdrive and again they looked like they had come straight from a photo lab.
Although I could view all my images on the colour screen I connected my camera to the USB port at the front of the printer and sent a picture direct to the printer, again the results were excellent.
I was really looking forward to using the CD printing capability and I wasn't dissapointed. Using the correct CD/DVDs you can created some stunning looking DVDs. The Software that came with the Printer is really basic but quick and easy to use.
The last test I did was text printing on bog standard paper and although the print was fast the text was a little saturated.
I would seriously recommend this printer to anyone wishing to print top quality photos at a very reasonable price and for anyone wanting to print direct on to CD. If you want to print reams of text though - buy a cheap laser, this printer is wasted otherwise.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent quality DVD, 22 Jan 2004
First off, there's no point me telling you how good The Cure are etc, as you wouldn't be looking at these pages if you never thought they were any good! What I will say though is that if you're after a greatest hits type, live concert then look elsewhere.
This DVD is based on the two day 2002 concert in Berlin where they played two three hour sets from three albums that spanned two decades. The first set is from their 1982 album, Pornography, the second from their 1989 album, Disentegration and their third from their most recent offering, Bloodflowers.
For die hard fans this whole compilation will be an essential addition to their collection, but I found the arrangements of all sets to be quite slow and hard going, even Disentegration was quite dull and morose in places and it happens to be one of my favourite albums of all time. Still, I thoroughly enjoyed every aspects of this visually stunning concert with a sound to match.
I have quite an expensive cinema set up and this DVD tested it to the max! The colours were vibrant, the picture quality crystal clear and the special effects just add to enhance the overall viewing pleasure rather than detracting from it. The best bit is the sound though, even in PCM stereo the sound is good with clear acoustics and deep, rich bass tones, but play this in 5.1 format and what you get is astounding, it really is like being there.
Overall I would recommend this DVD for any Cure fan who wants to see some groundbreaking and legendary songs played live, but for those just getting in to the group (you've left it a bit late!) I would recommend you get the greatest hits DVD first.

5.0 out of 5 stars Top Notch Gaming, 9 Dec 2003
I can't recommend this little gem enough. It's taken me a while, but I thought i had to add my adulations to the other top reviews for this gaming marvel. I think the nice thing about the GBA SP is that it looks cool, I'm 32 and regularly travel on business yet I'm never embarassed taking the GBA SP out of my bag! in badly lit places like trains and planes, the screen of the SP stands out really well. The controls are perfectly placed and the battery life is excellent. My only gripe would be that a headphone socket would have been better than having to purchase a special adapter, but this is only minor. Enjoy!

1.0 out of 5 stars So sad it's funny, 20 Nov 2003
I can't believe somebody has thought, "let's make a DVD about beating Manchester United", why? Arsenal have enough history and success without having to resort to the sad depths of teams like Man City or Leeds. Get a grip Arsenal don't become bitter and twisted like those other sad clubs where nothing matters unless United lose.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Reference Book, 22 Oct 2001
This review is from: Pure JavaScript (Paperback)
I bought the first edition of this book and was pleasantly surprised. I knew I was buying a pure reference book and so tutorials etc, were out of the question, but I have learned more with this book than any other Javascript tutorial book. That said I would only recommend this book to those who already have an understanding of Javascript. Great book and should be on every Web developers desk.
