1.0 out of 5 stars Dreadful user experience, 17 April 2013
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
If you want to use this game you will be FORCED to download it through Steam. Unless you have a super fast connection it will take hours and hours. I can't see why they package two installation discs, they are useless. The Command line fix I've seen on another review simply doesn't work.

I don't actually know if the game is any good because its is still downloading but now I don't care. I am so angry with the inconvenience of the installation process that I will never buy any game that requires Steam again. If that means I buy no more games, then so be it. I am not rewarding them for messing me about.

The stupidity is that all steam does is to inconvenience real purchasers of a game. People that pirate software or music won't buy it anyway so hardly any additional revenue is generated.

I urge all readers not to buy any game that requires a Steam connection.

1.0 out of 5 stars Out of Date methods - avoid, 17 Dec. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Successful Betfair trading requires some knowledge/indication of the future direction of prices. The strategies outlined in this book are based upon using Weight of Money (WOM) to determine future price direction. This might have been enough in 2004 when this book was published but it won't work on its own now. The market has since evolved and WOM is often manipulated by sophisticated traders and computer bot programs to lure the unwary into donating their money to the wrong side of the market. You have been warned.

There is no book that you can learn Betfair trading from, any strategy published in a book will be out of date by the time you get to read it. The best you can hope for in a book is an overview of how the markets work, you have to work out your own strategy, maybe using this out of date stuff as a base to start from. It requires patience and painstaking trial and error.

1.0 out of 5 stars Leave this alone, 10 Dec. 2012
I started reading this and thought I was was experiencing deja vu. Then I realised why. Its just "Lay Back and Think of Winning" with a different title. The first five chapters are the same and I didn't bother to look any further.

That old book is useless today because markets have evolved, you can't just trade with the weight of money anymore, you'll lose your shirt. Seven years ago you might have been able to get away with it but not any more.

I feel really cheated by this attempt to repackage outdated, 7 year old tripe and pretend that its new.

Leave this book well alone, it is useless.

Don't even waste your time borrowing it.

There is no information of any value whatsoever here. If I could have given it zero stars I would have.

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't put it down, 13 Sept. 2012
I must confess straight away that I am a personal friend of the author. So obviously I wanted to say kind things about his book. Actually in truth I would have said kind things about this book anyway. It's a quirky, funny, laugh-out-loud at times book and I found it difficult to put down. I was really disappointed when I got to the end, not with the story, but with the fact I'd finished reading it. I'm trying to persuade him to write another.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent value, 22 Dec. 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Light-weight, yet sturdy. Fully adjustable, excellent quick release shoe. Delivered within 24 hours when all around were making excuses about the snow. Excellent value for money, highly recommended for indoor use. No spikes on the feet so probably not much use on soft/slippery ground outside. For this money you can't go wrong.

1.0 out of 5 stars For Poker Tracker Users only, 31 Oct. 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
If you don't use Poker Tracker Software (hereafter just called "PT" )or if you play mainly on a poker site that is not supported by PT, this book will irritate the life out of you. The whole book revolves around decision making based upon the information supplied by the PT software.

As the site I like to play on isn't supported by PT, I can't use it and so I found this book to be a waste of money. Whether the information provided by PT software is as reliable and revealing as the book implies is the subject for another debate. I have read elsewhere (John Vorhaus's Killer Poker Online 2 p275-276) that you need 10,000 hands of recorded play against an individual opponent for the statistics about that opponent to be reliable. Work out for yourself how long that would take.

So, if you want to take full advantage of this book you need to buy and use PT (it costs about $88 for the holdem version, there's 60 day free trial). Some sites will give you PT free once you make a deposit and play a certain number of raked hands. This tends to suggest that the online casino's think little of PT, because if it really gave you an advantage they would ban it like they do so much other poker software.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Global Warming Industry will hate it., 8 May 2010
Some will try and tell you that if you believe what is written in this book you must be uneducated or unintelligent or personally deficient in some way or another. Read the 1 star reviews and you'll see what I mean.

There is already a special term of abuse for global-warming skeptics, they call us "deniers", in an obvious and deliberate attempt to link global-warming skeptics with the cranks that deny the holocaust.

The vested interests WILL be desperate to stop you reading this book and learning the truth about the entirely false man-made global warming industry and the billions its going to cost you.

This book is brilliantly researched and referenced and brilliantly written and it will make you as mad as hell with the politicians that have let this nonsense get out of control.

Remember, this book was written before the University of East Anglia "Climategate" revelations and before the Met Office predictions for a mild winter were proven wildly wrong.

Don't take my word for it, I urge you to read it and judge for yourself, don't allow yourself to be innoculated by abuse. When you've read it, get your kids to read it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good book, shame about all the errors, 9 Mar. 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a good book to start Expression Web 3 with but it contains a significant number of small errors which could well cause confusion to some beginners. Certainly, if you decide to buy the book go online to the publishers website and check the Errata page and go through the book making corrections before you start. There are a lot, so it will take a while. Also there are several additional errors not yet in the list, I'll post them up when I get the chance. If you have some experience with programming textbooks you should be able to muddle through OK. Despite this the overall content of the book is good. I'm glad I bought it.
