Definitely Missy's Best Album, 31 Jan 2012
I just had to write a review for this album becuase i think it is brilliant. I believe this is her best album and contains probably her best single Get Ur Freak On. The album is a mix of Hip hop/ R&B and has a very fresh feel. If you're a fan of Missy and don't have this album I would strongly recommend it, almost every song is excellent. This was Missy's 3rd album and at this stage herself and Timbaland had just reached perfection. Every song is excellently produced by Timbaland, and has plenty of great collaborations. From Tweet on the intro, to Redman and Method Man on the head-nodding funky Dog In Heat. Lick Shots is another party anthem from Missy along with 4 My People and Get Ur Freak On. There are two songs that are just incredible; the first being Take Away with Ginuwine. It is a slow jam with a dreamy tune, which is so hypnotising. It shows Missy has a fine voice singing too, and can slow the pace well, as well as having the party time/ hip hop songs. The other song is X-tasy. Another dreamy tune which is a rather hypnotising song, i have to almost meditate to that one. There is another song where Timbaland features on a rap called Whatcha Gon Do, a slightly darker tune, to reveal their other side, still capable of producing "sick" music. There is also a wonderful end to the album, with Missy giving thanks to God. Two songs called Higher Ground (prelude) and Higher Ground are again just wonderful. The last one is quite wonderful featuring Yolanda Adams, Kim Burrel and friends with an amazing pure soulful and powerful end to a fantastic album. This album would actually be in my top 10 favourite albums of all time, no greater praise to give than that! Buy it now!!

So good to have them back, 2 Mar 2011
I feel I have been rewarded by Scritti, strangely as I have been listening to his music devoutly almost everyday for the past year. And I have been a fan for a good few years now. So I was thrilled when I saw on Amazon that finally a hits compilation was finally being released. I was also thrilled to hear an interview with Green Gartside on the radio recently, and this song was also played. This song is fantastic and shows what Scritti Politti are all about. Fun, inventive, and oh so catchy. This is just like the material from the two pop albums in the 80's, particualarly Cupid and Psyche. I think Green has been quite astute here too and made this sound very modern but still somehow sounding like their previous glittery pop. Don't let that put you off, it may sound for a second like a new song from Britney or Usher but you soon find yourself getting reeled in. So, I strongly recommend you buy this single, then the album- Absolute! :)

A Treasure, 10 Jan 2011
You can say what you like about Steps and slag them off all you want, but there is no denying what a great record this is. This is one of the best debut albums ever and takes me right back to my childhood. This album features their first hits "5,6,7,8" and "Last thing on my mind". It also features their first number one "Tragedy" and "Heartbeat" (released as a double a side). I bought this on cassette more than 12 years ago and I recently just bought it on CD too, so i could hear it again. At the moment in a time of lifeless, dull pop music I find Steps so good to return to. Their songs are filled with melody, harmonies and you just can't help fall in love with them. When I heard the album again, I felt great nostalgia. The album tracks themselves are so good in my opinion, songs like "Back To You" are brimming with joy and are undeniably catchy. So, whether your a male now in his 20's, or a teenager, don't be ashamed to stick on Steps. They are sure to bring a smile to your face!! :)

Good stuff, 23 Feb 2010
I just wanted to write here, anyone that's interested in buying this should get it. I heard this on the radio a few weeks ago and was amazed to hear Bryan Ferry was singing on this track!! I thought it was amazing, Ferry turning his hand to Electro/dance music. His voice matches perfectly with the dark tune.

Poorly compiled, 8 Jun 2009
I'm sorry, but this is a poor collection here. There are too many dance compliation albums just thrown together, and this is one of them. For a start, it starts off with the most recent dance hits, and then jumps back 14 odd years to the likes of Jinny etc.. There are many brilliant dance collections, but im afraid this isn't one... There are some great 90's house songs on here, but they just don't fit along with the likes of Rave ie- Basshunter.. It just feels too varied. I like all types of dance apart from Rave, so its irritating to find DJ Sammy in between Jaydee and Chicane.. I don't really think the collection could ever work really, because there is not enough space to fit in the best dance songs in the last 16 years.. In my opinion, this particular collection is not my cup of tea... I would advise an alternative collection..

UTTER JOY, 23 Jan 2009
I count myself so lucky to have heard of this musical genius. I would probably be right in thinking that most people don't know who he is nowadays. I first heard of him a year or two ago when the Black Bread/ White Beer album came out. I bought this album when I was on holiday in Spain, for a bargain. It must be the best thing I purchased last year. I had a good feeling I would like it before listening, and I was right! From the moment I pressed play I really was taken away, that exotic little guitar riff which opens the song "Umm", it develops into a pop-rock/hip hop crossover which works very well. The couple of hip hop songs which are on the album are excellent. I thought the mere idea of Scritti and Mos Def collaborating together was unbelievably cool, and the music of course is too,- "Tinseltown to Boogie down" is sooooo catchy!! This album couldn't really be categorised under any genre, which I always feel is a good thing. It drifts between hip hop and pop and sometimes has a small taste of rock. "First Goodbye" is a beautiful ballad with a chorus i seem to keep humming to myself.. A few people probably don't like "Here come July", as he goes all out punk on this one. For a second I thought it was a Blink 182 song until I heard Green's voice. It's great fun. A few people felt disappointed by this album, and others felt it took a while to grow on them. But with me, it was an instant hit. For me, it was something completely new, a wonderful direction to take my musical interests. The album is full of interesting melodies and is bold in the attmepts to crossover genres. I count myself lucky that I hadn't heard of Scritti in the 90's because I would have had to wait 11 years! I would reccommend this to anyone that likes Scritti Politti, give it a few listens and it should become an utter joy to listen to, as it for me! I would also reccommend White Bread Black Beer... I LOVE SCRITTI!!!

Truly unbelievable!!!!, 23 Sep 2008
This is a truly excellent album. It was thanks to youtube that i first dicovered Mouse on mars, and they were a real find!!! I was sceptical when another reviewer wrote that this album was for the "heavily sedated", well I'm quite happily sedated, under this wonderful rollercoaster ride of an album. It really is one of my best purchases ever!! There are no boundaries, the sky is the limit with this act, they throw away the rule book. I'm quite happy to say that some songs on this album are truly insane, which really brings a smile to my face. For instance, the track "first" is complete madness from start to finish. Think- fast stop/ start elctronic beats, an amazing blend of electronic paraphenalia and an unusual time signature. Another really mad song which clicked with me instantly was Actionist respoke, unbelievably catchy, i just can't get enough of it. It has an interesting tune and undecipherable lyrics. It was this song that sparked an obssession with mouse on mars. There are songs too, which have delicious melodies, some ones that are chilled out, and to me are slices of heaven. These are: Catching butterflies with hands, fantastic analysis, paradical and the incredible- The illking. When I listen to this again now I am reminded of my holiday in Spain, I close my eyes and get countless shivers down my spine, every hair stands. This was an instant favourite for me and would be considered very high in my list of favourite albums, and I have well over 1000!!! You really need to be a dance geek if you are to delve this far into this kind of music, and you'll need experienced ears to know, that this is something wonderful, really futuristic and revolutionary. If you buy it, you may not like it with the first listen, but it could be a real grower. If you like your dance music ambient and really experimental, then this is for you. You HAVE to buy this album, you're really missing out if you don't!!

It would be perfect if it had the 3 missing singles..., 14 July 2008
This is definitley a great compilation, however there are three great songs missing. Aerodynamic- one of their best songs with the amazing guitar part, without a doubt, almost all daft punk fans will say that that would be their favourite song. The other is Digital love, another great catchy song from daft punk from the discovery era where they came back to reclaim the crown of dance music. The other is, Burnin, from the Homework album, a really catchy song, much more worthy of a place on the compilation, rather than rollin and scratchin which wasn't even released as a single. But, that aside its a very good collection of songs from the two french house wizzards. The first song on it- Musique, I had never heard it before and to be honest, it was the only reason I bought this CD. It was worth it though, as it is just amazing!! Dangerously addictive house, which I can't get enough of. No doubt that song that song paved the way for a great musical future for them. The other three songs are quite good, I like the mothership connection and chord memory remixes. Though the remix of Gabrielle's forget about the world is just OK. It has a strange noise of changing her voice to sound higher, and loads of kids screaming at the start.. Anyway though, this collection would be perfect if it had those other 3 songs, but, the final verdict is just: Quite Good

BLISSFUL, 22 Jan 2008
I got this album around this time last year on amazon, and I have really enjoyed going back to listen to it. I've noticed this isn't exactly every fans favourite PSB album, but it might be mine, or maybe my 2nd favourite. This album was after their huge success of Very, so there was probably a lot expected of them. There is a sort of latin feel to this album, and I like it. I'm not entirely sure what latin is but I'm guessing it's in the first two tracks discoteca and single, they have loud snare drum rolls to them. That continues on the se vida e track, which is a song I have always loved from them for 12 years now, when I was 7 I loved the song but never knew the name of the artist or track. It varies a little through the album, after the first two songs comes metamorphisis, a song which connected with me instantly. It's fantastic a great house music feel to it, the chord changes and brass improvisation. What's also great is that Neil tries rapping on the song, which I think really works, a song where he reveals his sexuality, hence the title metamorphisis. His rapping continues through the catchy rap style beats of electricity, quite a catchy small chorus to it 'its the greatest show with the best effects since disco tex and the sexelettes'. The latin feel definitley comes back on the album when you hear it always comes as a suprise, a beautiful slow love song which moved me right away, Neil in great voice, and a hypnotic tune to it. Possibly their best song in my opinion, or perhaps the next track A red letter day, absolutely brilliant. It has a choir of voices singing the tune, and then it breaks into their trademark disco sound, a lovely chorus, it should've been no. 1 when it was released as a single. Their usual disco sound is also the songs to step aside and up against it. There is also another beautiful song The survivors, which has a great melody and great lyrics, '...life is worth living its still wotrh a damn'. The other two songs left to say about are before and saturday night forever, which bring back their house sound. Before was another single released of the album, a bit different to any other singles they'd release, but then again, they usually are trying to sound a bit different with each album and single. Saturday night forever is just fantastic, and wraps up the album brilliantly, it really sounds like it would be perfect to hear on a saturday night. Each time I listen to it, its utter bliss. A perfect tune to it on the chorus and then you hear Neil sing 'forever forever, saturday night!!'. So, to sum up, this is quite simply their most beautiful and blissfully unpredictable album, if you're a PSB fan and don't have this album, I'd highly reccommend getting it. It may take a few listens, and then it would surely grow on you!! I think its a tie between this album, and their most recent, fundamental, for being their best.

A wonderful adventure through a sea and sky of honey!!, 30 Dec 2007
I already was a fan of Kate Bush before I got this album, so I knew before listening to it, it would be a bit different to any previous albums. In a way this is almost two albums, its divided into two different cds;A sea of honey and A sky of honey. The fisrt cd A sea of honey begins with the single King of the mountain, song where she sings about Elvis, and a theory of him still still being alive. Its obvious to see how much time and work has been put into this album. For example the song Pi, with its unusual time signature and interesting tune, or bertie, a song about her son, with wonderful string arrangements. Musically, vocally and lyrically this is truly fantastic. I have always admired Kate Bush's extraordinary imagination. Like for example, having a song about how to be invisible. Also on the second cd A sky of honey, she sings of her fascination of birds, it starts off beautifully with the prelude. The 2nd cd, I think is the best, its like a journey, one song just slides into the next. The lyrics on sunset are remarkable. Its like a poem 'where sand sing in crimson red and rust then climb into bed and turn to dust', beautiful song and lyrics. I love the catchy beat and irrisistible tune of Somewhere in between. The lyrics too, 'somewhere in between breathing out and breathing in'. The album ends off brilliantly in the last two songs, on Nocturn you can hear almost a choir of Kate's voices dramatically singing 'look at the light!!' It then makes way for the excellent last song and title track Aerial. After years of working hard, crafting it to perfection, it was worth it, it's a masterpiece. I just hope she won't leave us for so long this time.
