Euro Exotic, 5 Sep 2005
You have to congratulate Goldfrapp for releasing another album full of their Euro-Exotic music. This time it is more shinny and bright than before. We can hear many influences of 1980s electronica. Tubeway Army springs to mind. They still use some nice 1960s "James Bond" string accompaniments but no "Thomas Crown Affair" plucky-plucky bits this time.
Goldfrapp are not cool. They are deeper and more complex than that. Dark, light, quirky, bright.
So Goldfrapp leave Steve Strange at Maxime's in Paris and set off for Switzerland in their prancing horse Ferrari. After paying-in a fat royality cheque in Bern, they stop over night in their mountain retreat. Hopefully they will devise yet more Erotic-Electronic. I can't get enough.
