Belkin TuneCast Auto 4 for iPod/iPhone
Belkin TuneCast Auto 4 for iPod/iPhone

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but not good enough, 23 Feb 2010
This product is no better and no worse than many similiar devices. The problem is that the concept is fatally flawed. Quite simply there are not anywhere near enough free spaces on the FM dial. As I drive around and particularly reach high ground the car radio begins to pick up weak commercial radio signals which interferes with the music.

Its crystal clear when stationary but when moving about in South-East England it is useless for classical music, jazz or indeed anything quiet.

For this price it is also unacceptable to have to just chuck your ipod behind the gear-stick.

Manufacturers need to get real and start fitting proper connections for MP3 players in all cars and then this aberation can go in the bin where it belongs.

Lola Montez: Her life and conquests
Lola Montez: Her life and conquests
by James Morton
Edition: Paperback

4.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating and compelling, 31 Aug 2009
This is a well written book about a fascinating subject. Lola Montez was the prototype for so many modern day "celebrities". Without the aid of modern media she achieved as much if not more than those who live in the magazine age.

An actress and dancer of little or no talent she slept her way to international stardom and transitory wealth. Read this and enjoy inserting modern names in each chapter.

5.0 out of 5 stars Uplifting music, 31 Aug 2009

The only thing dissapointing about this album is it made me realise what a fool I had been to miss this tour.

4.0 out of 5 stars Magnificent, 31 Aug 2009
This review is from: Swingin' Stampede (Audio CD)
A little bit more hoe down than smooth swing as we have become used to in later albums but superb musicianship will always be impressive. A must for all fans of the trio.

Torchwood: Trace Memory
Torchwood: Trace Memory
by David Llewellyn
Edition: Hardcover

4.0 out of 5 stars Best Torchwood novel yet, 26 Jun 2009
An excellent thriller based on the TV series. Most of these novels struggle to capture the spirit of the series and are just weird but boring. This is an interesting story and well written.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not a true title!, 14 May 2009
I bought this as I was researching a novel set in Regency London. This is a rather staid academic study of early pornagraphic writing and amorality. Clearly there is little material available about the Hellfire Clubs and what went on behind closed doors. Pages of this book are rehashing the story of the Marquis de Sade and quoting great chunks of his books

Beethoven's Last Night
Beethoven's Last Night

4.0 out of 5 stars The musical that never was!, 31 Jan 2009
This review is from: Beethoven's Last Night (Audio CD)
On first hearing of this I was bitterly dissapointed but after a couple of run throughs I fell in love it, surely this is a musical waiting to be staged.
The blend of Beethoven's own work with anthemic rock works most all of the time. True some songs are a little stage operatic for an album but there are some truelly moving pieces on here too.
The vocal talent of Patti Russo is widely known but Jody Ashworth is a revelation.
Suffice to say that despite the Christmas themes I am going to have to sample some more of their work.
