5.0 out of 5 stars goodbye string, 4 Jun. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Bought these for running, they work well (did 8.5 miles with them last night).

Best thing is no stringy wire/chord (which pulled the buds out my ears, tangled with me and transmitted noise up the chord as they rubbed against clothing).

Not used the hands free much, just one call so far, other side thought i sounded a bit distant but could hear me fine.

Sound quality is good

For the money I can't fault as yet

5.0 out of 5 stars Very fast drive, 23 Mar. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Fast drive
Easy to install
Supplied with driver software
Supplied with clone software (I used Macrium Reflect instead as the Samsung stuff could not see 2 hidden partitions which i knew were there)
Installed fine on my Samsung windows 7 q430 laptop

Here is what I did:
Bought an external case with USB lead "AVANTEK USB 3.0 to 2.5-Inch SATA"
Put the new SDD drive in the case
Cloned my existing drive using Macrium Reflect (which resized one of my data partitions as my old drive was slightly larger)
Installed the Samsung software
Shut down my laptop
Switched the drives over
Started by laptop back up (with the SSD in)
Ran the samsung magician software
Ran the windows experience index

Laptop now runs very very fast, especially things like iTunes, suspend/resume etc
Your laptop might run faster (as my laptop only has a 3GB/s SATA interface, more modern ones have 6GB/s)

Like the watch

Dials all work too (unusual on a watch this inexpesive)

For 16 pounds its amazing value (automatic, clear back)

The strap broke within days as leather poor, I did not mind replacing the strap (wanted to put one with a deployment clasp on anyway, a quick tripped to the ebay sorted that). Hence I knock off one star

5.0 out of 5 stars Great primer, 25 Oct. 2013

This review is from: Know the City 2013/14 (Paperback)
Great romp through the basics of what banks do from Microfinance through to CDOs.

Roles in Banks (esp large banks) get very specialized/niche, this a useful way to gain a broader view.

Importantly it has been written post crisis, so closer to the new normal.

Also an interesting read / very readable.

The Billionaire and the Mechanic: How Larry Ellison and a Car Mechanic Teamed Up to Win Sailing's Greatest Race, the America's Cup
by Julian Guthrie
Edition: Hardcover
Price: £17.30

4.0 out of 5 stars Great read, 16 Sept. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Disclosure - I work for Oracle (I bought the book though)

Great story about the America's Cup and the twists and turns of putting a team together and competing.

You also get some insights in Mr Ellison's life and thought processes along the way but it's really about putting teams together, racing boats and turning a boat race into worldwide spectacle and the differences between financing and helming/crewing on a boat.

I used to sail & race dinghies & yachts but you don't need to race boats to get this book (though it would help if you know the sharp end from the blunt end as there are some race descriptions which really come to life if you have sailed yourself).

Many favorite parts of this book but I don't wish to spoil it.

I would buy this book again / recommend it.

RHA MA350 Aluminium Noise Isolating In-Ear Earphones - 3 year warranty
RHA MA350 Aluminium Noise Isolating In-Ear Earphones - 3 year warranty
Price: £29.95

3.0 out of 5 stars Good headphones BUT v noisy cables (friction noise), 16 April 2013
Good sound.

Comfortable ear fit (supplied with choice of 3 sizes of ear buds).

Well made (smooth aluminium).

The L and R are not that easy to tell apart (mentioned in other reviews) but for me that's a tiny issue (as far as I can tell the L and R buds are physically identical beyond the L and R stamped on the cable stress reliever).

However, these have one major, major floor for my usage:

The cable has a fabric outer cover which rubs your clothes when you move (even small amounts e.g. when sitting working and you turn your head to read the screen or your notes), this transmits a loud annoying rubbing sound up to your ears.

Rubbing noise is very noticeable, so much so I am debating on returning as I listen on the move and it is driving me nuts.

So if you listen completely static e.g. in bed, consider buying. If you move around and especially if you listen to low volume sources, probably best avoid.

RHA - I would advise you sort this out soon as to me it is a major floor in an otherwise really great, quality product.

5.0 out of 5 stars All the common sense stuff you will forget + good for targeting, 29 Aug. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a good book and worth your money, short and to the point. It caters for international and UK applications (not US centric which many are).

Useful if you have been in an organisation for a long time, or moved between jobs without competitive selection. Also perhaps useful if your banging out applications and not getting the responses you expect.

Has some good solid advice inside, in a way back to basics. However, having sat both sides of the interview desk and process it is amazing how many people fail due to schoolboy errors and bad assumptions.

Also likely a useful read if you're putting together job specs/adverts so you convey the right information.

It will take you though
- Profiling yourself and the adverts you're potentially going to respond to.

- Putting a CV together and how to express your experience (useful for professionals where track record is important).

- Applying / responding

- Interviews

Also has a bit on how to act in meetings / role plays

It does not contain anything wacky/zany/innovative/individual so perhaps for the more creative types you might want to look elsewhere. That said if your going to try a wacky/zany/innovative/individual approach you're either brilliant (so won't need this) or ......lets just say you might want to read this.
