Very good reference book., 5 April 2012
After many years away from collecting comic books I decided I wanted to get back into the hobby. I decided that I would concentrate on graded comics as while the companies who do the grading are not perfect, a professionally graded comic is just that a professionally graded comic. I brought this price guide to help me mainly with non graded comics as it has very little info for CGC collectors apart from some very high examples, I'm not in a position to spend $1,000,000 on a single comic. While I have found most of the info and far more in-depth pricing on the internet, this book provides some fantastic articles and pictures of many great comics from over the years. As another reviewer pointed out many comic books will only reach 50% of the listed price with only key issues resembling what is being quoted. In the internet age it's pretty much impossible to have a complete guide on a subject that could filll 10+ books this size, but it is a very interesting reference manual. 4 Stars seems about right.

Bare bones release, but much clearer picture., 29 Mar 2012
As another reviewer pointed out lots of films in the late 70's/early 80's telling people "Don't" go here or there came out and thankfully for the audience nobody listened. I remember watching this on a battered old VHS release many years ago and the picture was as grimy as the film itself. It's easy to see why this film made the "Video Nasties" list and was a hit at the grind houses of the day. The Arrow release has had a good clean up (picture wise, not the story itself) and is a lot brighter than what I had watched before. I personally found this took away some of the atmosphere that I remember when watching the VHS. This isn't a bad thing, but the film seemed a lot more tame, but maybe that is because I knew what was going to happen. Maniac sprang to mind throughout my viewing. This is a bare bones DVD with no real extras apart from the booklet and a trailer. It is priced as such so no real complaints, I just love the extras Arrow includes normally, although these seem to be getting less and less throughout there releases as time goes by! 4 Stars.

Good Release., 19 Mar 2012
A classic low budget Boxing Prison movie that get's a good release from Arrow. Penitentiary is low budget and also a great advert for people not to end up in Prison (especially American ones) unless you can seriously look after yourself. Shot on a miniscule budget mainly on the campus of UCLA and a derelict unused prison it looks better than it should even with some not so great acting. The release contains an interesting Directors commentary and a feature on Penitentiary 2 (not sure why it doesn't include one for this movie) and that is pretty much it. Since it is a budget release by Arrow and is priced as such it's still a good release. 4 stars from me.

Add on pack, not full game., 15 Mar 2012
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Programme (What's this?)
Unfortunately this is an expansion pack not the full game. This needs to be stated clearly on the description as unfair to expect people to spend the extra on flight sim software.

Great Blu Ray Release., 15 Mar 2012
Basket case has always been one of my favourite films. In fact I even created a website for it! I really don't want to spoil the story for anyone who has yet to watch it and I'm sure anyone who has seen it doesn't need reminding what happens. If you like your films high budget and riddled with CGI you probably aren't going to enjoy this film. Somehow this film missed the Video Nasty list when first released, but that is probably because it was so far fetched and while gory has a element of fun to the story. Shot in and around the boroughs of New York (Manhattan/Queens/Brooklyn) on a miniscule budget by Frank Henenlotter the film has a wonderful grimy atmosphere throughout. The Blu Ray Transfer itself is an improvement on the DVD and for a 16mm film is about as good as you can expect. The extras are limited to what we have seen before bar an introduction from Frank Henenlotter. 5 stars from a very happy Fan::-)

Not bad, but not great either., 14 Mar 2012
As a bit of a "statto" I like as much information as possible. I purchased this book expecting a load of cool retro video sleeve pictures and a lot of information about the releases themselves. While I received my first wish the second was non existent. I had really hoped for year of release, copies made, alternative covers etc etc. What you get is a front and back scan of various video sleeves from the early eighties ranging from gory horror to children's cartoons. I should also point out that this is American sleeves only. Overall I do like this book and have looked at it again after my initial "read". I think around 3 stars is about right and anyone into the golden age of video sleeves should check it out.

Not for me, but still very good publishing software., 14 Mar 2012
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Programme (What's this?)
I've been trying to convert from Microsoft word to a programme that would allow me to do more in the publishing area. Initial set-up was straight forward as is the case with most software. Some people have complained about Serif phone-calls etc. however I have not experienced this as of yet. I have found the programme itself is quite a steep learning curve and I haven't been able to produce the sort of results I was hoping for and have been happier with the results I have achieved in word. I have spent many years using word and I have become an amateur expert of sorts. I really wanted a programme that I could jump straight into, however there is a lot of work to be put into this software to be able to use it to a satisfactory level and I guess I'm not willing to put that time in. Maybe I'm just not getting it. Since I was unable to use any of the templates for my needs I had to start from scratch and maybe that's the problem. When playing around with it I found the templates quite user friendly and there is quite a few to choose from. From what I have seen of the software and the proposed end results it looks very good. From a complete novice who needs to start a template from a blank page It didn't do it for me. To be fair at the current retail price you really can't go wrong if you wish to stick to the pre-mentioned templates, have previous experience with this sort of software or have the time to work through the tutorials and trial and error it is an excellent option. I feel my issues with the software would be unfair to give too low a score and judging by others scores and what I have seen this software can produce 4 stars would be a fair score.

Great Release for a very good Teen Vamp film., 4 Mar 2012
After almost 2 decades (maybe more) I finally got round to watching Vamp again and was glad I did. Well shot and doesn't look like it has dated wither Arrow give it a fine transfer and in Blu Ray it looks Great. I love the locations used in Downtown Los Angeles and the seedy back streets and neighbourhood in general, gives a great backdrop for the storyline. f you like films like Fright Night (original)and Salem's Lot (original) you should enjoy this film. 4 Stars for a good film and great extras from Arrow.

My partner thought it was pretty good., 4 Mar 2012
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Programme (What's this?)
My partner really enjoys this sort of book for some reason. I try and get her to read more cheery things:-) It revolves around a young boy diagnosed with a life ending illness, which his hippy parents decide is best to treat with herbal medicines rather than doctors and Hospitals. She said 3.5 to 4 stars was fare.

Very Bright and Very Red, 4 Mar 2012
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Programme (What's this?)
I have way too many Iphone 4 cases at home, but that doesn't stop me from trying new ones out! I used this case for a couple of days just to see how i got on and have to say for the budget bracket ot falls into it's a pretty good one. I have to be honest and say given the choice I would splash a little more cash and go for the AmazonBasics Leather Case for iPhone 4 (Black) which is my case of choice. This is a pretty good case though.
