GMC RC1200, 6 April 2011
Bought this for my boyfriend who wanted one to cut up firewood (he didn't want a chainsaw & didn't want to bother researching which model he'd like). He said it feels heavy after a bit but that'll be because of the 1200W motor & we figure it's worth the weight to get the power. He has to stop for regular brakes as the vibration makes his hands go numb.
I wanted to go for a cordless one so we could use it in more places but Rich wanted a corded one. I chose this model because the rotating handle looked like a good idea & it has proved handy when pruning our apple tree. I thought the pendulum control on this saw was a handy extra option - for "very efficient" cutting of softer materials - but Rich didn't like using it, said it felt jerky - probably because he'd not clamped the wood down properly.
Would be handy if there was some info on replacement blades, a friend said just get a pack of store own brand blades e.g. B&Q but I've not needed to do this yet. Blades are short, wood cut = 115mm, steel = 90mm but same friend says just fit a longer blade for wood, but this may be considered abusing the tool by the manafacturers.
I like the alternative name for these saws "Demolition" saws, but my heroine is Tank Girl so I would!
