3.0 out of 5 stars Hopefully it gets better, 11 May 2007
Right. This review is objective. Not an Xbox fanboy, just appreciate what makes sense as a better gaming rig. So I bought an XBOX 360 on launch, never had a problem, love the online service, love the rumble and love the games.

Got PS3 about a week ago - bought Resistance:Fall of Man, and what a huge dissapointment that was after having played Gears of War. Uninspired, bland and boring sums it up pretty well.

The SIXAXIS? Come on, this is no replacement for the gool old rumble. Hopefully third party developers will bring out a wireless, rumbling remote for the PS3, 'cause it feels strangely empty walking through explsions with no runble.

Love the fact that you can transfer and save your photos, mp3's etc onto the hard drive.

The internet browser is a bit redundant - why surf the web on the PS3 if you can do it on your PC? (Of course you have a PC!)

The Playstation store just pales in comparison to Xbox LIVE's online service. Literally no competition.

It will be the games that make or break the PS3, but as of writing this, there are no games that I'd like to get now, or in the near future, apart fomr MSG4 and FFXIII, but that's only in '08.

The Darkness looks cool, but I'll get it for the Xbox rather as the multiplayer will rock.

Is there anything else coming out shortly worth mentioning?

Well, for the 360: Mass Effect. Forza 2. Blue Dragon. Hour of Victory. Two Worlds. Shadowrun. Timeshift. Overlord.

Hopefully some first party developers will bring out some rocking titles for the PS3, but at the moment? Save your cash!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best. Console. Ever., 7 Mar. 2007
I dont have a first generation 360 and I must say I have had NO problems with the console. I was a huge PS2 fanboy and look forward to PS3 for one reason only: FFXIII. other than that there are no titles that grab me yet on PS3. Ive read many reader reviews on Amazon of the 360 and the XBOX and their respective graphic prowess. Personally I think theyre on par with each other, even though I should mention this example from the H3TV website of Fight Night Round 3 which was a launch game for both consoles:

"XBOX is flat-out better both visually and mechanically," said H3 Enterprises, Inc.'s chief communications officer and world-class gamer, Adrian "Hollywood" Walton. "When Fight Night is played at its highest level with the highest possible resolution, everyone is able to see XBOX 360's superiority to PS3 as clear as can be on H3TV."

The PS3 will also be a killer console, but it will take second place to the brilliant XBOX360

The Bonehunters: Malazan Book Of Fallen 6 (The Malazan Book of the Fallen)
The Bonehunters: Malazan Book Of Fallen 6 (The Malazan Book of the Fallen)

5.0 out of 5 stars Retains the throne quite easily, 10 April 2006
If you're interested in book 6 of this series, then you're obviously familiar with the Malazan Book of the Fallen and there's not much more I can say to praise the brilliance that is Erikson. This book follows several threads from books 3,4 and 5, never lets up on the action and cool little twists and revelations and this book easliy proves Erikson to be the best fantasy writer today. While George RR Martin struggles to keep one interested in his current series,Erikson leaves you craving for more. Sure, GRR Martin can write, but he seems to have lost some of his gutzpah, especially in the last novel. When I sit down to read 700 + pages, I expect to be entertained, not lulled into indifference about every single character in the book. Erikson remains king, and no one else comes close.
