Good compositions let down by poor musicianship, 11 April 2006
I had high hopes for this album. Being affiliated with the tru thoughts lable is generally an indication of pedigree and its true to say that there are some nicely crafted, well composed tunes on this album, but they are sadly given rough justice by the underperforming band. In particular there is no articulation of notes by the trumpeter and ironically what should have been the albums most attractive quality - a live sound- is ultimately its downfall, as studio production could have tidied it up and added clarity to some of the tracks. Suggest trying Four Tet, Nicola Conte and Quantic Soul Orchestra before this.
